It would be interesting to see what the Dems would say if offered such a bargain.

“Constitution-given rights”

Someone doesn’t understand what “rights” are...

And when the courts uphold the universal background checks and strike down the voter ID card, what then?

Sounds very much like a Real ID. The only wrinkle in that plan - it is nearly impossible for seniors to get a valid birth certificate as the standards for acceptability have so drastically changed; Certs issued in the 40s and 50s are no longer acceptable.

If the hospital they were born in no longer exists, or the records where otherwise destroyed, or if they have to prove who they are by presenting the hospital with a valid ID (a birth cert) they are out of luck and are effectively non-citizens.

My opinion of the DNC and deep state is low enough that I am able to imagine they’d set up mass shootings, not just take advantage of them.

Democrats want “universal background checks” on all gun sales? Fine.....let’s give it to them.......
As soon as Democrats agree to Govt-Issued Photo and Fingerprint ID for every voter in America.

......and let's include Social Credit Scores, medical records, voting records.....and so on.

Worthless because the judiciary would checkmate voter ID while leaving gun restrictions standing. When Federal judges have to be renominated every 10 years or be directly elected, maybe.

100% Democrat-controlled Chicago has had the strictest gun control in the country......
as the Windy City Kill-a-Thon continues.....
41 people shot over the Labor Day weekend alone in Chicago.

If it actually would happen, would be irrevocable and could never be challenged in court, I would be for such an idea. The Democrats are killing us with illegal voters. Yes, do it, however, it HAS to go into effect to get the registration. They would never agree.

I’ll do one better.
They want to license gun owners? Fine.
Then for every licensed gun owner, no restrictions shall apply.
Carry anywhere, everywhere and everything.
No NFA required.
Automatic FFL license with it: guns can be shipped to your door.
Any other infringement by any government entities results in immediate prison time and a million dollar fine for said entities.

It’ll never happen because they can’t be trusted.

Background checks required for all registered voters?

No thank you.

I have no problem with requiring a voter ID in order to initiate the current background check.

Get voter ID ! Note class of criminal record on back, address, e-mail, and phone number.

TIME TO DO IT.

RINOs would drop the demand for universal ID and voter ID at the first “outrage” for the Rats.

“As soon as Democrats agree to Federal Government-Issued Photo and Fingerprint ID for every voter in America”. Hol-ditt! The Rats will lie and “agree” to ANYTHING, and then renege. We’ll maybe do it AFTER every voter HAS Gov’t-Issued Photo and Fingerprint ID, and not before every i is dotted and every t is crossed! No more democRAT promises or pinky swears. Lies are democRATs and mooslims’ stock in trade!

I'm not interested in anyone working to bargain my rights away.

I don't care how good a deal they think they're getting, I'm the one "getting it".

It is a clever talking point, but not a great law.

Perhaps a better approach would be the blind prohibited persons database proposed years ago. Instead of having a system where only dealers can do look ups, and the process involves a lot of unnecessary information, like the type of firearm and details about it, there should just be a database listing prohibited persons.

Anyone could look up people in that database at any time. And the look ups should be anonymous, but each should generate a cryptographic key signature so you could print out the response from the database and keep it as proof you did the look up.

With such a system the only law needed is that prohibiting sales to prohibited persons. Any smart seller would check before a sale, as would any smart buyer. Anyone who felt their own record was wrong could take legal action to correct it.

Having a printout of the look up results saying "not prohibited" would be proof that the seller complied with the law. Likewise for a buyer.

Such a database would also be very useful for other functions, like identifying illegal aliens, and it could be used by anyone for any purpose. Even during voter registration, for example.

Also, everyone would be in the database - no exceptions. So you could check to be sure someone was enabled to buy NFA weapons, for example.
