Ginsburg defends Kavanaugh, Gorsuch as 'very decent, very smart individuals'

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Wednesday night defended Associate Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch as "very decent" and "very smart" individuals after one of her former law clerks suggested that new nominees lack personal decency.

Ginsburg's comments turned heads on social media, given the contentious and bitterly personal confirmation hearings last year that Kavanaugh said "destroyed" his family.

At an hourlong question-and-answer session, Duke Law professor Neil Siegel lamented that "nominees for the Supreme Court are not chosen primarily anymore for independence, legal ability, personal decency, and I wonder if that’s a loss for all of us."

Her and Scalia. Oddest pairing of friends ever.

I had a what I would call a friend at an old job back in the early 2000s.

Only thing we agreed upon was Israel. Oh, and he DID shut people up about Cuba and even Stalin!!

But I would say he was a good man and a good friend.

That was a LONG time ago.

There’s a new breed of dem.

And hate is all they know.

Oy vey zmir! Kavanaugh’s hearing was contention alright, because of the contrived attempt to derail his nomination, including reaching into his childhood and reading his high school yearbook looking for hidden meaning and trotting out a lunatic who claims to have been the only adult to attend a dozen parties where underage boys stood in line waiting their turn to sexually assault underage women. Thankfully Senator Feinstein spared us from having that lunatic appear before Congress - but she did the MSM talk show circuit. If she had appeared before Congress everyone would have known it to be the manufactured circus that it was.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the “prudent” Liberals of yore privately regret the perilous wheels they set in motion — Dershowitz being one of them.

I would like to know what some of those libs from the early 2000s think of the trans insanity and other things.

Unfortunately, they don’t have the moral character to speak up nor vote against it.

Just consider the mind-boggling desire for partial-birth abortion here in NYS. The average Democrat voter supports this depraved insanity. That’s a brain-damaged group of voters.

Good for her! I quite like Elena Kagan’s personality too, she too was friendly with the late Scalia. They even went hunting together.

I hope Kavanaugh has a strong faith and that the experience made him stronger...and perhaps a better judge if anything. As he knows what it’s like to be attacked by lies on the other side of the bench as it were. God bless his family.

She may be the final surviving “L” who is capable of rational thought and is not truly a hard-left lunatic. And the lunatics are now running the legislative part of the asylum.

In any event, I fondly remember the good old days when we appreciated Liberals because somebody had to be wrong.

... and without putting said yearbook into the context of the passing boyish folderol that so many boys have gotten into. Kavanaugh wasn’t even given a fair chance to say that he’d repudiated all that as he continued to grow. Instead the harpies tried to damn him all to hell with that yearbook as their only evidence.

Worse than the trans insanity, worse than no borders is the positively fascist turn they’ve taken. The 60s hippies were not my cup of tea in many respects (this describes several of my college profs) but at least they were all about trying to talk and persuade. They were for the most part willing to live and let live. Modern Leftists are about trying to smear and silence and if that doesn’t work, form themselves into bands of modern day brownshirts to use violence to prevent others from expressing any thoughts they disagree with.

She knows they are the usual Federalist Society pablum—less conservative than they claim and up for casting a pivotal 5th vote, on a seemingly rotating basis with Roberts, as needed.

AGREED.

But this ain’t nazi Germany and we are NOT a minute percentage of the population and unarmed.

They are VERY dangerous but you do read articles about our side fighting back physically and that was needed.

We will defeat them.

I have a neighbor couple 4 houses up from me who are communist. lol. Friendly people but politically lunatics. But at a neighborhood brunch. I got to sit next to them...luck of the draw. Anyway, I brought up trans in sports and they were rather grossed out by it. I was shocked to say the least. She especially was going off the muscle mass on guys and no matter what that doesn’t change from birth. It was refreshing to hear. Will they vote for trump. No way....yet.

“Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Wednesday night defended Associate Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch”

I don’t like it. Not one bit.

Ruth Vader is the enemy. I don’t like it when anyone agrees with her, or she agrees with anyone.

We got our Trump picks for SCOTUS but we need to do better than the guys we’ve gotten.

To this day and beyond our constitution says one thing, our government says another and it was their damned job to prevent that from happening. Mission failed.

I went to a speech by Gorsuch and he said that Supreme Court justices are very polite and professional. They eat lunch together and do things after work with one another on occasion. Much more civility between them than Congress or the media.
