There has been a major power failure in Manhattan, from Midtown, West to the Hudson River. Times Square is dark, no Traffic Lights or Street Lights and West Side Subway service is down. No reports of mayhem...yet.
Sqirrels do not chew on lines. There are exposed wires tapping transformers. Squirrels make contact with that exposed connection and short out the transformer, dieing in the process. Birds, especiallly those eating fish produce the same result.
The remedy is very simple. A plastic insulating cap placed over the connection prevents contact
Very Cool.
Thanks.
West 42nd St. to West 71st St, Fifth Avenue to the river. Basically all of Midtown West.
On the 42nd anniversary of the Great Blackout of 1977. To the day.
Don’t think so.
Mostly Mountain Lions and Rattlesnakes.
So is it a planned outage then? 8>)
Fine here on Staten Island
#### em
so do you pack when you ride ? I would ;^)
They spared no expense in reducing the local grades.
Fox reporting 44,000 manhatten customers lost power.
In the whole scheme of things thats not major imo
Happens a lot in tornado alley or hurricane coasts every year
That figure is NOT people...it’s buildings and the entire subway system is counted as ONE customer! The bus station and railroads are ONE customer.
NYC is not Tornado Alley. It’s more like sharknado alley.
There was a massive blackout im NYC this day in 1977.
Interesting tidbit:
Power outage strikes Manhattan on the same day of the 1977 NYC blackout -— by Fox News.

Bruce ruins that channel. I hate listening to him. I hated it in the 60s. I hate it now.
This will test my theory that we could convert the brain power of AOC and Don Lemon to electricity and make a light bulb over a license plate on the back of a rusty Yugo flicker and light---for about 10 seconds.
Let's see if they can light NYC.
DeBlowsio’s fault.
Well, I must say that the deplorables who live in Tornado Alley or Hurricane Alley are not overly impressed. We start announcing numbers when they hit 250,000.
