...twenty-one sailors from the M/T Kokuka Courageous who had abandoned their ship after discovering a probable unexploded limpet mine on their hull...
At 4:10 p.m. local time an IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) Gashti Class patrol boat approached the M/T Kokuka Courageous and was observed and recorded removing the unexploded limpet mine from the M/T Kokuka Courageous (video attached).
The United States has no interest in engaging in a new conflict in the Middle East. However, we will defend our interests.

They are that stupid. They needed the Russians to teach them how to make and use the copper-top armor-penetrator IED.
You are correct, nobody can fake a video so we should always accept them at face value. Oops, I forgot, it is possible to make fake videos now. Like this one of Mark Zuckerberg.
But our government never lies. They would not put out untrue information. Everything Hillary Clinton said about the attack in Benghazi was true! In fact when President Obama said "extremists and terrorists used (the anti-Muslim YouTube video) as an excuse to attack a variety of our embassies" shortly after the Benghazi attack he wasn't trying to mislead anyone, or lie about what happened because after all the place where the US Ambassador to Libya was murdered was not an embassy. It was just a diplomatic post!
And even though almost no one saw the video in question, somehow Obama, Rice and Clinton were telling the truth. What's wrong with you conservatives, don't you know the government never lies?
It is always good to remember that the planes flown into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and the plane crashed by brave patriots in Pennsylvania were hijacked and piloted by Saudi Arabians.
Being Americentric in your thinking you do not acknowledge the coaltion against Iran.
There are other very formidable air forces besides those of the USA.
When the air war begins, the bombing will be by the IDF and the Saudi Arabian air forces. The UAE air force will be charged with flying cover and tending to the Iranian air force that comes to defend. The US Navy will be defending the gulf and providing anti missle defense for Israel, Saudi Arabia the UAE and other Gulf states.
That is one scenario. The coalition allies will be heavily involved in the destruction. Iran knows that and is fearful. That fear is why Iran never acts. Iran alwaays uses surrogates.
I don’t think of myself as a war monger but rather one who looks forward and sees the real probability of a war with Iran. So long as there are religious radicals in control of the nation that covets Mecca, hates Israel and the sanctions of the Great Satan, I seen no peaceful resolution.
America has disregarded the whining of the euro trash and has imposed sanctions that have in effect nearly halted Iranian oil sales. Those sanctions are biting. Those sanctions are causing real pain.
From an evidentary standpoint, the video proves only that the Iran Revolutionary Guard removed a mine from the vessel; it does not prove that it placed the mine in the first instance.
And your basis of expertise in this area is what?
Ever touched a limpet mine? Swum with one? Attached one to a ship in dark water? Been a passenger in an SDV? Made shaped charges and platter charges and used them against all sorts of targets?
The Iranian regime is on the ropes. They don’t want the only other person in the equation to be Trump....they lose.
They want to freak out Europe, Japan and Korea over the threat of the strait being closed. (Iran can do it, with 1,000s of truck-mounted Chinese Silkworm and other missiles.)
They perceive that the very real risk of war, and closure of the strait, will cause our allies to put incredible pressure on Trump to call of the dogs, to save the world economy.
“From an evidentary standpoint, the video proves only that the Iran Revolutionary Guard removed a mine from the vessel; it does not prove that it placed the mine in the first instance.”
Yes it does. Every limpet mine ever built has anti-removal devices built in. If you try to pry it off without going through an elaborate process of deactivation, BOOM.
Only folks who understand that mine 100% (who built and placed it) are just going to cruise up and snatch it off.
Leaving aside how quickly the US Navy can get on scene anywhere in the Persian Gulf for the moment...are you absolutely certain the video was taken after the oil tanker was attacked and not before?
If true, that would support the idea that the Iranian vessel was simply responding to the attack as opposed to being caught in the act of perpetrating it.
Shouldn’t it be leaking oil?
Travis McGee said the same thing to AJ. Good interview.
Or removing the evidence of their crime.
“Oh by the way, did you see that Iran has taken hostage a crew of one of the vessels today? Was that a CIA plot too?”
Give him a few minutes and he’ll invent a story explaining that the hostage takers are working for Bolton.
Explanation:
11 of the sailors supposedly “detained” were in fact Russians that did not want to be “rescued” by our navy.
The Iranian ship is designated NAJI10 and they delivered the Russian nationals to the Port of Bandar-e-Jask where they will be repatriated to Russia.
The other 10 sailors are awaiting return to their home countries.
Breaking:
4 tug boats contracted to pull one of two tankers damaged in an attack Thursday, have been prevented from doing so by Iranian gunboats that have surrounded the stricken tanker: US defense official.
In separate incident Iranian tugboat came out this morning and attempted to tow second tanker—Japanese-owned Kokuka Courageous—but was waived off by USS Bainbridge.
Targets!
The navy’s SEALs use them a lot.
It’s a double hull tanker and the mine must not have breached the inner hull.
One consequence of the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster is that oil tankers are required to be built with double hulls. Single hull tankers were phased out over time, with 2015 being the final year that single hulls could sail.
Travis’s old career.
