Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who voted to block President Donald Trump's border national emergency declaration, has said there is a "real crisis" on the southern border.
"I hope people in both parties, as well as people across the country, realize there's a real crisis right now at our southern border. We are at a rate of about 1 million people a year trying to cross into the country," Romney said in a Facebook video posted in April. "These are folks we're not able to properly evaluate, investigate and to vet and as a result, we don't know exactly who they are and why they want to come here. It's a real security risk and it's overwhelming our systems, particularly in our border states. So, it's a crisis and we have to deal with this on an urgent basis."
Romney was asked why he voted to block the declaration if there is a currently a crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border.
"There's a constitutional approach to providing for border fencing and I believe the president had access to the necessary billions of dollars to be able to provide that fencing and felt that the emergency declaration was unnecessary and was not consistent with constitutional principles," Romney said.

I believe their deceitfulness and cowardice has resulted in an unconscious self-loathing that totally destroyed any sense of integrity either of them ever had.
Sen. Romney needs to consider that possibly one of the reasons that PDJT declared border emergency was to test loyalties of so-called “Republicans” like Romney.

I think it’s patently clear that PDJT declared the invasion at our southern border an emergency simply because it is one. And it’s also obvious that the talking heads who are refuting that fact are doing so for purely political reasons, and to the detriment of all Americans.
Teats off a boar hog would serve better in the Congress than Mittens. He’s a traitor to this nation and should be treated as such. If nothing else, totally shunned.

When Romney ran Texas was 100% sure to vote Republican. Thus I voted for the libertarian candidate as a protest vote against Romney. If there was the slightest chance that Texas would not vote Republican I would have held my nose, voted for Romney and drank much adult beverages.

I did not vote for McCain either for the same reason and logic. I did vote for Trump most gladly. It was a wise vote!
Yes, the border is definitely an emergency.
But on another front there is the Democratic / RINO insurgency against the constitutional republic — draining the swamp. And PDJT is finding out who the republic’s enemies are.
