Yesterday, out of the blue, I clicked on Howlin's Facebook page and learned that she'd passed away. I found her obituary and learned that she had departed on September 19, 2018 at the age of 72.
She was a mainstay at Free Republic and her last post there was on April 22, 2007.
I liked her a lot and I will miss her.

Wow, it's been 12 years since she left?
She was a passionate poster. She wasn't afraid to post what she believed.
Then she stopped posting, stopped caring so much and left it all to the next generation of posters.
At least that was my impression.
RIP Howlin.

She opused out over abortion.

I remember that Howlin and Miss Marple seemed to be everywhere together on FR in the early days.

So sorry to hear that. She was one of my favorites! I remember when she lost her son, and launched a campaign to get people to install carbon monoxide detectors.

She was the first to call the Duke Lacrosse case.
I think she was a Court reporter if my memory serves me right and believed in the rule of law and justice.
Great woman.

Even though I lurked for a few years before registering in 2004 my memory of Howlin is rather distant.
Sorry that it has taken nearly a dozen years to acknowledge her departure from this life.
May her Memory be Eternal!
