NYTIMES: F.B.I. Sent Investigator Posing as Assistant to Meet With Trump Aide in 2016 (Papadop)

WASHINGTON — The conversation at a London bar in September 2016 took a strange turn when the woman sitting across from George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign adviser, asked a direct question: Was the Trump campaign working with Russia?

The woman had set up the meeting to discuss foreign policy issues. But she was actually a government investigator posing as a research assistant, according to people familiar with the operation. The F.B.I. sent her to London as part of the counterintelligence inquiry opened that summer to better understand the Trump campaign’s links to Russia.

The American government’s affiliation with the woman, who said her name was Azra Turk, is one previously unreported detail of an operation that has become a political flash point in the face of accusations by President Trump and his allies that American law enforcement and intelligence officials spied on his campaign to undermine his electoral chances. Last year, he called it “Spygate.”

The decision to use Ms. Turk in the operation aimed at a presidential campaign official shows the level of alarm inside the F.B.I. during a frantic period when the bureau was trying to determine the scope of Russia’s attempts to disrupt the 2016 election, but could also give ammunition to Mr. Trump and his allies for their spying claims.

The IG report must be reading damning, if the NYTimes is forced to cover as “New News”, what we have all known for a long time now.

“The IG report must be really damning”

NYT is executing its next op against America for cover.

Uh, the “shows the level of alarm inside the F.B.I” trope might be secondary to the level of alarm and we’re going to spy and plant rats inside the campaign against Obama and the wishes of the Clintonistas & Obamunists.

Ya think?

I’ll bet you $100 she is only the tip of the iceberg

We’ll likely see info on even more plants and spies within the Trump campaign.

here’s the tell:

“It is unclear whether Mr. Horowitz will find fault with the F.B.I.’s decision to have Ms. Turk, whose real name is not publicly known, meet with Mr. Papadopoulos. Mr. Horowitz has focused among other things on the activities of Mr. Halper, who accompanied Ms. Turk in one of her meetings with Mr. Papadopoulos and also met with him and other campaign aides separately. The bureau might also have seen Ms. Turk’s role as essential for protecting Mr. Halper’s identity as an informant if prosecutors ever needed court testimony about their activities.”

I think Papo thought he was hot stuff....and he bit on everything sent his way.

While in the states, his position was less than minor in the Trump Camp. He was told on more than one occasion by Trump staff to....back off.

I think he was totally surprised that he was caught in a web....and it was his own doing.

Doesn’t matter if the FBI was alarmed or not, they should’ve went straight to Trump to inform him personally of their investigations.

The comments at the NYT are precious. Liberals are funny.

Usually, the NY Times comments are almost solidly brainwashed leftist. I'm actually surprised by the number of comments that are aghast at the FBI/CIA and deep-state efforts to undermine Trump. This can be considered progress, I suppose.

Nellie Ohr was CIA, Bruce Ohr was FBI...

Papadopouos says Turk was CIA, this NY Times article seems to be an effort to spin her as FBI.

Clearly Gorelick’s wall wasn’t separating anything in this matter....

... previously unreported detail

NYT knew all along that Comey's FBI and Brennan's CIA were framing the Trump campaign. NYT chose to not report what it knew, in order to protect the NYT's political preference.

Nothing illegal about that, but it blows up the myth that the press is non-partisan, objecive, aims to accurately inform the public, etc. The press is no more honest than the typical partisan hack, medical quack, or carnival huckster.

We will know when the deep state establishment ploy against Trump is REALLY unraveling is when Obozo’s and Hillary’s names become front and center of the “committed crimes” legitimate conversation. All the rest are just collateral damage thus far.

“The IG report must be reading damning, if the NYTimes is forced to cover as “New News”, what we have all known for a long time now.”

This is more fake news and attempted spin.

“Azra Turk” was not her name. It is a fake name.

She was not FBI, she was with the CIA.

She, Joseph Mifsud and Stephan Halper fed Papadopoulos false information. They were trying to create the false narrative that the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia.

I’m sure you realize...

It’s not that we know too.

It’s that the Justice Department is about to prove what we’ve known all along to be true.

Family members and friends are about to be shown, that we have known what we were talking about for years now.

This will be very damning of the NYT and the broader MSM.

Why CNN’s viewership may go down. LOL
