Beto O'Rourke ate dirt after losing to Ted Cruz
Washington Examiner ^ | 3/19/19 | Daniel Chaitin

2020 presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke ate dirt after losing his Senate race against incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, last year.

The revelation comes in a lengthy Washington Post report which divulged new details on the road trip the former congressman took after his defeat in the midterm elections and the ensuing "funk."

During a January stop in New Mexico which did not make it into his blog, O'Rourke, 46, ate the local dirt, which the report said is believed to have "regenerative powers."

He also brought some of this New Mexican dirt home to his family to eat.

Do they mean Robert Francis O’Rourke?....No. Irish Bob.

Sounds like he's ashamed to be Irish. The Kennedy brothers must be turning over in their graves.

That might explain his recent behavior.

That’s the WHO teacher’s guide about parasites people get from eating dirt. They include roundworms, whipworms and hookworms. They leave out the tapeworms and amoebas, some of which cause brain damage.

“A frightening statement about the people of TX!”

What is frightening is that Ted Cruz only won by a couple of percent, but in the same election and appearing on the same ballot, Greg Abbott won in a landslide. What’s that say about Ted - why do Texans have such a hard time voting for him when his political positions are so much in agreement with theirs?

Maybe it’s his delivery. He uses the same canned stories, at every speaking event.

Maybe it was the anti-Trump/trying to steal IA nonsense.

Maybe it’s the fact that he really didn’t start campaigning, until very late in the game, on his last Senate re-election race. And, once he began campaigning was very boring, at that. Not a lot of there, there. Especially considering how much great material ANY conservative candidate has to work with, against the socialist left.

I’m sure there are other reasons, but that’s what first comes to mind.

I’ve heard from people who have met him that he is not particularly likeable. If you are in politics and you can’t project “likability” you will have a tough row to hoe.

The Democrat party is a freak show. In a sane country they would be defunct.

Pica.

I remember the older black farm hands on my Papa’s farm used to have a special spot on the creek that they would dig and eat clay from, when I was a kid in the 1970s.

"What kind of abject moron brings fkn DIRT home for his family to eat?"

A brain-dead democrat 2020 Presidential hopeful, apparently.

Anyone who votes for such a cretin is incapable of self-governance. After 50+ years of public school brainwash, that would be 50% of the US electorate.

We live in interesting times, my friend.

There was a clay roadbank on the road by my grandfather’s property where they used to dig for a special clay back in the fifties.

I remember being fascinated with this as a boy in eastern NC.

I wonder if people (besides Beta O’ Rourke, haha) still do this?

The Wapo article that relates the dirt-eating episode is otherwise a glorified puff piece. They practically canonize the man, and the photos are carefully chosen to portray him as an exciting new leader and a wonderful family man.

Watch out, this is a man on the rise, with the fawning media on board.
