Bill Maher mocks Middle Americans as 'less affluent and educated--they want to be us'
foxnews.com ^ | 2/24/19 | Paulina Dedaj, Fox News

Bill Maher derided Middle Americans in red states as envious of their blue-state counterparts.....Maher blamed Amazon's Bezos for pitting wealthy cities against one another in a battle over the next Amazon headquarters, while ignoring states that would benefit most from thousands of new jobs......after the deal NYC deal fell through.

“We have a problem in America called spatial geographic inequality which means the most affluent and educated people are clustered in just a few cities,” he said. He said there are “two Americas” .....states that historically vote Democratic vs ones that skew Republican.

“We have orchestras and theaters districts and world-class shopping. We have Chef Wolfgang Puck, they have Chef Boyardee. The blue parts are having a big prosperity party while the big sea of red feels like their invitation got lost in the mail -- and they still use the mail.”

The comedian went on to say. “The fly-over states have become the passed-over states, that’s why red state voters are so pissed off. They don’t hate us, they want to be us.”

See, that’s just the thing Bill. You’re not and we don’t.

Oh and for the record Bill, I’ll gladly compare my degrees to yours any day. I’ll gladly compare which one of us is more worldly, has lived in more countries and speaks more languages any day you like buddy.

Sorry, but you’re not “more sophisticated” than us. We simply don’t want to be like you.

You are correct. I only thought about him because of this thread.

CW2 is here...but only one side is actively fighting.

Where are the indictments & arrests of the DeepState leftwing traitors?

We are close to the point of no return....God Save America!

I used to ride the Seattle to Portland bike ride every year with a strongly liberal friend. We’d argue politics (when we weren’t huffing and puffing up a hill) the entire 200 miles. One year I’m listening to him and asked myself, “Why do I still hang around this guy?”

I’ve not seen him in ten years. Life is short. I have better things to do.

Maher sees it correctly on this one. Unfortunately he comes to a wrong and contrived conclusion.

He re-identifies ‘US’ and leaves the real us a bit confused oh who he’s talking about. For every ‘US’ there is a ‘them’. and I guess I fall in the ‘Them’ category which means Maher is measuring ‘US’ vs ‘THEM’ in income distribution.

I think he should look at it as ‘US’ being the high end consumer and ‘THEM’ being the creators. Most money flows to those that produce the least from those that produce the most.

Even so, I want to be a creator. I want to deal in tangible skills and create. I’m sure there are many like me than there are ‘US’

To each his own.

That would be fine. But the Maher types want to impose their will upon you and me.

Where are the indictments & arrests of the DeepState leftwing traitors?

I keep wondering that myself. Russa 24/7, but McCabe's and Clinton's arrest and trial for sedition and treason doesn't seem to be in the cards.

We are close to the point of no retur

Beyond it I'd say. If leftists are unwilling to listen to facts and reason and unwilling to give up their plan to plunder the rest of us to bestow largess on their supporters, then what's left?

Nailed it. Maher is not dumb. He’s one of (or at least he thinks he is) one of the “elite” that thinks he is so much smarter than the rest of us.

I think it’s funny that the rich and/or powerful mostly tend to lean leftward. They all want control over all of the conservative rubes and show them a “better way”.

This is the same woman who said “I’m confused” when she learned that illegals break the law.
(she was force-fed by Democraps that jailing illegals was Trump's policy alone.)

HIRONO "Dems have hard time connecting to voters because they know so much"

Hirono, 71, said Democrats need to stop speaking in a way that comes off as manipulative or strokes fear and resentment. “But we have a really hard time doing that and one of the reasons-- it was told to me at one of our retreats-- was that we Democrats know so much, that is true. And we have kind of have to tell everyone how smart we are and so we have a tendency to be very left brain," she continued. The left-hand side of the brain is often associated with analytical thought.

The first-term senator gained widespread notoriety as a leading Democratic voice for the women who accused against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. She urged men to "shut up and step up" when the Senate was confirming Kavanaugh to the court.

Couldn’t agree more. Arguing with your “betters” is an absolute waste of precious time. Any “need” to consider opposing arguments at this point is also an absolute waste of precious time.

I think one of the underlying issues is that maher and the rest of the coastal elites want to be European. (orchestra’s, fancy chefs, little sidewalk cafes where they can drink expensive coffee and look down their noses at the people who are not just like them)

We however want to be American. (Independent, making our own way, enjoying the beautiful world God has given us. Satisfied with home and family and good home cooking. Looking down on no one and expecting no one to look down on us (although we normally don’t care what other people think of us)).

We hate the elites because they try to force us to be like them. We do not want to be like them. We don’t even want to associate with them at all!! It bothers us that we hate them. We’d much rather be able to just ignore them entirely (but their insistence in interfering with our lives makes that impossible)

Yep. That’s what I was seeing in Seattle and why I moved here. I built a nice 40x25 porch. I built a nice two story shed. I’m about to build a 36x36 garage.

No building permits or inspections. Try THAT in Seattle.

I would like to see this son of a B grow his own food, or cut his own wood to build a shelter or stay warm, or smith his own tools to do those things.

Son of a B can only spout at the mouth.

“He then attended Cornell University, where he double majored in English and history, and graduated in 1978.[16] Maher has said: “selling pot allowed me to get through college and make enough money to start off in comedy.”

Hmm. I’m more educated than he is. My sister and her husband are more affluent than he is. I see how they live. Hi hum

My father was more affluent than he is and that was how I grew up. I know these people and I am still not impressed.

The emptiness of leaving the Church, as his family did when he was young, because they disagreed with the Church over birth control is an empty life. He should read Humana Vitae and also think for himself to even be in the same league with me

But no I do not want to be him
