The Post-Standard is dropping the comic strip Non Sequitur after the artists Sunday strip took a hidden profane shot at President Trump.
Sundays strip, a takeoff on Leonardo da Vincis drawings, contained a hard-to-read message suggesting the president Go f--- yourself.
The artist, Wiley Miller, teased his readers about the message in a tweet Sunday: Some of my sharp-eyed readers have spotted a little Easter egg from Leonardo Bear-Vinci. Can you find it?
Said Trish LaMonte, vice president of content for The Post-Standard and Syracuse.com: Mr. Miller made a juvenile and vulgar decision that does not meet our standards for the syndicated content we pay to have in the newspaper and is offensive to our readers, regardless of their political affiliations.
In a statement quoted in the Dallas Morning News, Miller said it was a mistake.
He didnt explain why, if he didnt intend to publish the remark, he called it out to his Twitter following Sunday.

‘bout time. Was boring and unfunny on its best days
The rag is owned by Advance Publications.
This decision surprises the ever-livin’ snot outta me.
Wonder if some YUGE advertiser/s threatened to pull the plug?
Bullshit! The only mistake made was that he did not think that he would get called on it. Good for the newspaper for dropping him.
Don’t credit the paper yet. Like I said, check out the ownership.
I’d really like to know why the rag did it. My bet is some advertisers threatened to walk.
Good. One slight victory for normal people.
After giving it more thought, I believe you are correct. Advertisers did threatened to hit them in the pocketbook. I rescind my “good for them” to the newspaper. Thanks.
If he hadn’t tweeted that out, the pretend “whoops, wrong cartoon” would have allowed the newspaper to have an excuse to let him say. Well, as we can see he’s not known for cleverness.
Might have gotten away with the “Easter Egg” had he not called attention to it via twitter.
700 newspapers run this comic. Have you contacted yours?
Non Sequitur has been bashing Christians for years - only “self-actualized” atheists will shed a tear.
Things like this are so juvenile and unprofessional. He’s not some political rebel. He’s a little kid making fart jokes in a public forum and thinking he’s profound for doing it.
That strip routinely runs ‘hate your President’ crap... my local paper carries it too. Disgusting ...
I’ll stick with Nancy and Sluggo
In a Huff Post story, he admitted to scribbling it a couple months ago, annoyed at something the president said and then forgot about it... Of course, he also promises to never do it again.
A number of papers have dropped the strip; particularly of note, the strip invited kids to color it. Guess we know which artist will be doing the 2020 DNC programs now.
It is at the bottom of the second panel. I am calling the N&O. I would love to see this a-hole deplatformed.
Dumped by the Times Dispatch this morning:
They truly can’t help themselves.
He was misquoted in his autobiography./sarc
The issue was probably not the attack on Trump; but rather, the profanity. If he’d kept the hidden message “G-rated”, there would probably be no problem.
