A letter on God and the Constitution written by George Washington is up for sale after spending decades in a private collection.
The letter to Richard Peters, speaker of the Pennsylvania Constitution, is signed Sept. 7, 1788, and praises God for the ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
Written a week after Washington told Alexander Hamilton that he would likely accept calls to assume the presidency, the letter came at a time when the Constitution was under attack. Some states wanted to hold a second Convention that may have undermined the Constitution.
It would seem from the public Gazettes that the Minority in your State are preparing for another attack of the now adopted Government; how formidable it may be; I know not, Washington wrote. But that Providence which has hitherto smiled on the honest endeavors of the well meaning part of the People of this Country will not, I trust, withdraw its support from them at this crisis.

Thanks for posting.
Anything written by Washington is already discounted as “the ramblings of a deranged, slave-owning, racist cracker” by the marxist left. The left will make all of the founding father go the way of the confederate statues and christopher columbus.
Someday, people will sadly think of him as only a myth :(
Because such a great and good a man could not possibly have existed.
My previous post:
He was the first and remains the greatest American.

Kind of does away with the lefts theory that Washington did not mention God
Sure, and they also believe in the existence of several dozen genders.
” Some states wanted to hold a second Convention that may have undermined the Constitution.”
George Washington’s home state of Virginia had some very prominent opponents to the Constitution... “Anti-Federalists”... Patrick Henry and George Mason being among them.
Washington of course wanted the Constitution... the series of events that ultimately led to the Constitution replacing the Articles of Confederation began with George Washington wanting to build a canal along the Potomac River.
Amen!
Yes Indeed.
And I encourage any snowflake or SJW with pieces of paper with pictures of Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and other racists to get rid of all such items immediately.
Their best option is to empty their wallets and send those offending pieces of paper to me. I promise to handle them appropriately.
More often they want to claim that Washington was a deist rather than a Christian... George Washington was in fact a founding member and vestryman of Christ Church in Alexandria.
Most deists at that time considered themselves Christians.
Even Unitarians at the time were essentially Christian.

.
Yes!
First in war, first in peace... He understood and recognized ability in others, and wasn’t afraid to delegate. And he learned from his mistakes.
