More often they want to claim that Washington was a deist rather than a Christian... George Washington was in fact a founding member and vestryman of Christ Church in Alexandria.

Does he use the word "God" in the letter? The quoted portion says "Providence."
I read somewhere that George Washington never mentions Jesus' name in his writings (at least those which are preserved).
