ILLINOIS. (WAND) - A state representative has filed a bill that would urge the United States Congress to make Chicago its own state and not a part of Illinois.
The bill, filed by Brad Halbrook of Shelbyville, Ill. was filed on Feb. 7th. It currently has two co-sponsors, Rep. Chris Miller of Robinson, Ill., and Darren Bailey of Louisville, Ill..
The bill has not been assigned to a committee yet. The bill is a house resolution meaning it does not need approval from the senate or the governor.

The positive is maybe the GOP would have a chance in “Illinois” without Chicago. The bad news is Chicago would get its own two Senators. Oh, wait, that’s not so bad, as “Illinois” without Chicago would get two Senators as well.

I would also second the motion for our long suffering brothers and sisters tormented by other big cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia etc. Plenty of precedent for city-states...Rome, Carthage, Athens and more contemporaneous examples like Singapore, Monaco, Vatican City.
Let’s just make it a foursome and have it Chitcogo, LA,NYC,and Detoilet.

Yes, which is desperately needed to offset the lunacy of Chicago voters! (I live in this state, thankfully NOT in Chicago.)
An alternative would be for “downstate” to secede from Illinois and form a new state. West Virginia seceded from Virginia and Maine from Massachesetts.
