RICHMOND, Va. The political tumult in Virginia widened Thursday as the State Senates top Republican faced an onslaught of questions about racist photographs and slurs in a college yearbook that he helped oversee, transforming the Capitols nearly week-old crisis into a bipartisan reckoning over personal conduct.
The senator, Thomas K. Norment Jr., who is the majority leader, was the managing editor of the 1968 Virginia Military Institute yearbook, which included images of students in blackface.

This is all just getting ridiculous.
For real.
End political correctness. Now.
All of it.
And all the Republicans probably knew somebody or had somebody in their family tree who once thought about somebody in blackface or something.
Over a half century ago.....BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!
lolol...He should’ve told the democrats that they couldn’t use blackface and KKK pictures on their yearbook pages.
Dig deep enough and it’s always the fault of Republicans /NYSlime propagandists
It’s Lewis Carroll (he was a Mathematician) reasoning. Ridiculous inputs lead to ridiculous conclusions. It was always insane that Roy Moore could be vilified for dating younger adult women, comedian Al Franken could be forced out of office for humor, a businessman President could be in danger for business deals before he was President, that folks could go back in time and declare that things that weren’t racist are now racist. Where else could this go except the Theater of the Absurd that we now have in Virginia?
Isn’t promoting infanticide in the most cold terms, the more egregious offense?
Hilarious
They gotta drag in something from 50 years ago to try and get a Republican on the hook
In ‘68 George Wallace ran for President and segregation was only a few years in the past - but of course all the Suthrun DEMOCRATS still wanted it
So this is a joke
Ain’t like some retrotards in 1982 puttin’ on a minstrel show, the world had changed dramatically by then
Blackface cosmetic used in a theatrical staging presentations goes back hundreds of years very probably used in staging Greek and Roman as well as Shakespeares plays.. More often than not it was used because the story line called for a a black person who was not available to perform in whatever it called for.
While the technique has been often used in satire. Political objectors to the characterization portayed instead of labeling it as a abuse, are now condeming the means used (blackface) and are calling any use of blackface as racist instead of targeting the story line and the source Demonstrating just how far we are allowing the revisionists pervert and poison a means of communication to promote their guilt agenda.
If I had to guess, I’d say that the 3 Democrats with past history of non-PC behavior will weather the storm. The Republican? For things that he wasn’t really involved in? From 50 years ago? He’ll resign.
They snared a loosely related Republican, so now they can say EVERYBODY DID IT THEN, and sweep the whole thing away, while retaining control of Virginia.
I will note that CNN is not calling for Warner to Resign from the US Senate for knowing about the rapist Fairfax, but not coming out with it.
can you just imagine the 24/7 hatefest if a Repub did that?
The New York Slimes didn’t care until they could draw a Republican into the picture. Then, even though the “crisis” started around the 3 top Democrats, the Slimes frames the article beginning with the Republican. No bias there!!
I’ve gotta see the Larry Fishburne “Othello” sometime.
I heard somebody refer to him as “Triple F”, Forced Felatio Fairfax. I thought that is a pretty good handle for him.
Democrats AND republicans?
Any black dude who dressed up as Elvis is racist. Any black gal who dressed up as Dolly Parton is racist.
Yes how ridiculous .
In the context of their time. That doesn’t mean the blackface bit wasn’t offensive. But one can’t logically say, because I deem it offensive now means it was always so. Society has changed. Not necessarily for the better, but change is a constant.
You know Democrats have been looking under every rock for some Virginia Republican to deflect too, and the best they could find was not one actually in blackface, but "racist slurs in a yearbook he helped oversee"? Weak, extremely weak.
