A far-right conservative website was reportedly tipped off about the racist photo on Gov. Ralph Northam's medical school yearbook page by one of his former classmates.
A source from Big League Politics told the Washington Post the individual reached out because of "anger" over Northam's recent comments about a bill that would loosen restrictions on abortions.
“The revelations about Ralph Northam’s racist past were absolutely driven by his medical school classmate’s anger over his recent very public support for infanticide,” the unnamed source said.
Northam, a former pediatric neurologist, has faced a barrage of criticism for an interview he did with WTOP about whether he supported a bill to roll back restrictions on third-trimester abortions in his state.
"This is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved," Northam said on Wednesday. "When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physician — more than one physician, by the way — and it's done in cases where there may be severe deformities. There may be a fetus that's non-viable."
"If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen," Northam said. "The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."
He also said comments made by the bill's author, Virginia Democratic Del. Kathy Tran, had “really blown out of proportion.” Her bill never made it out of a subcommittee.
Conservative circles criticized Northam's comments, arguing the governor supported "infanticide." He responded in a tweet Wednesday evening, saying, "I have devoted my life to caring for...

The cut I heard, he wasn’t talking about killing the baby. He was talking about deformed babies and kids that were going to die.
I am no pro abortion person, but letting non viable babies die happens every day, in delivery rooms somewhere in the country.
He could have easily clarified his remarks and gotten through this whole thing. This guy is too stupid to be a governor.
Universal medical coverage is what drove a bunch of liberal conservatives (hahaha) to support Northam and even Obama. It’s sort of scary to see how far left Virginia has gone since I lived there. My daughter moved back to Virginia, and she had a baby. She had baby at a military facility, but baby had to be moved to a civilian hospital for extended care. The hospital attached baby to daughter’s childhood medical records. Daughter had never been to the hospital there. Actually, that hospital did not even exist. But daughter had to go through hoops to establish that her baby has separate insurance and a separate existence and that daughter is a grown up with insurance of her own. lol.
Anywho, the powers that be want insurance for all. Northam was their choice until he wasn’t. Time for Jeff McWaters to run for governor.

Northam might have a chance if he admits to being one of the guys in the picture, and says that the other guy was his gay lover.
Hold your horses everyone. We’re not being told what the political affiliation of this classmate was. He may be a conservative who was sickened like all normal people were at Northam’s comments, or he could be a liberal democrat who realized Northam crossed a line and the state would be much better off with Justin Fairfax, a young black rising start with an extensive political background as Governor instead of an old white guy who can’t follow orders from the party.
You may be correct but the law that passed in New York and then failed in VA made it legal for such a decision to be made for any “infant” (Northam’s word) who was “delivered” (another Northram word) to have a decision made whether or not to end its life. It was written in the context of a baby who survived what was meant to be a late term abortion. It has no limiting words relating to non-viable, etc.

Achild that is born with ANY chance to live is assigned an advocate if the parent are choosing to give up parental control.
If a child is born without a brain stem, for example, the medical staff will make the child comfortable and allow it to pass naturally.
I know in MA that once the baby is delivered no one is sticking scissors in its brain. I am pretty sure that is murder everywhere, it is here. At that point the parents make the decisions regarding further treatment.
Sometimes a lot of these discussions are based on rare situations that are taken out of context. It is important to understand this context, the exact wording of the laws, the rules in the hospital (which may be more conservative than the laws) and the requirements for multiple medical certifications and the hospital ethics representatives.
Most hospitals are not going to allow the murder of a viable infant on their property.
I know there are going to be some folks who are going to disagree with me and post examples or situations. I don’t really want to hear it. Go spend some time in a birthing center and watch what happens. Go to a NICU and speak with people with a little bit of experience.
Your understanding will be enhanced, and your judgement of parents without knowing the story will make you ashamed. And you will understand that it is humane and respectful to allow nature to take it course.
