Ted Bundy, though dead for 30 years, is again having his moment in the spotlight. In 2019, the serial killer who brutally raped and murdered at least 36 women is the subject of a new four-part docuseries on Netflix, Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, and will be portrayed by a chiseled Zac Efron in the film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which will be released in theaters on January 26.
In both the docuseries and the film, Bundy is painted as an artful, handsome, and exceptionally intelligent man; one whom you would never, ever think was capable of bludgeoning women to death and then having sex with their corpses. In the movies trailer, Efrons Bundy smirks, winks, seductively takes off his shirt, and passionately rips off a woman's blouse...
But the Ted Bundy of Americas consciousness is a myth. Bundy was not special, he was not smarter than the average person; he did not have a personality so alluring that his female victims could not help but simply go off with him. He did not have a superhuman skill to be one step ahead of the police. What Bundy did have was the power of of being a white man in a society that reveres them and has implicit faith in their abilities. This privilege gave Bundy the ability to make even the most heinous of crimes take second place to his personality. Bundy isnt even exceptional when compared to other American serial killers. So why is his legacy treated with fascination and twisted admiration rather than condemnation? ...

Who would have guessed!
Ted’s mother used to baby sit a friend’s children at her home in Tacoma - we had cake and coffee with her on one occasion. This was before Ted got busy with his murderous hobby.
It is black privilege to attribute everything bad to white privilege.
So...
If YOU are WHITE and MALE, chances are you’re capable of the same behavior as Bundy...
Got it?
I was working a construction job at the University of Florida Gainesville when he was executed 25 miles away at Raiford Prison.
Privileged white students were celebrating all day.
My privileged wealthy white boss said Bundy should have been slowly beaten to death with a ball peen hammer.
My female cousin was at FSU when Bundy famously ravaged a Sorority.
The privileged white students also celebrated at FSU.
Since she defines criminal severity by race, Gosnell killed more people by at least a factor of 1,000.
She should be proud eh?
the modern left is always trying to find new ways and new reasons to hate whites particularly white men.
So we can assume that all the other serial killers that weren't as successful as Bundy were something other than white, right? Wrong, actually about 60% of American serial killers are white according to the FBI. So why didn't they all have the same "benefit" that Bundy had from his race as this author would suggest?
Not at all the same family.
Ted Bundy wasn't even born Bundy. He took the name of his stepfather, a cook.
The other Bundys were upper class, related to the Lowells on their mother's side.
But if he killed as many people as they say he did, he must have had some personal skills.
There have been plenty of Black serial killers.
If they didn't get more publicity is that because the country is racist?
Arguably, a more racist country would have made them more famous.
I have started to watch that program. Quite interesting! You have to wonder how many serial killers did not get caught or were only ever prosecuted for one murder before these guys changed the thinking
I read the book written by his girlfriend, Liz. He did not do as well at school as people have thought. He was clever but made some really stupid mistakes. The times allowed him to succeed. He was an unexpected killer. He was not always charming but seemed to try to be “on” most of the time. The book is not the best written or anything, but it was interesting.
So I guess Hannibal Lecter is a symbol of white supremacy.
“Youre a bright young man. Youd have made a good lawyer. Id have loved to have you practice in front of me. But you went another way, partner.
Former Dade Circuit Judge Edward D. Cowart”
I wonder if this woman read Ann Rule’s book on Bundy?
She knew him and was deathly afraid of him. Her take on Bundy was the opposite of this woman’s opinion.
Most serial killers are of above average intelligence, some of them very smart.
This woman really does not know what she is talking about.
It was a fluke he was caught.
He was a piker compared to the 9/11 crew
Negro re-writing history to fit her racist mindset.
Clue in the title....had to read the crap until the closer, “the power of being a white man in a society that reveres them...”
TA-DA, Bada Boom! There it was, direct evidence that the author was a black man or woman. Turns out that it’s a woman. A, not to bright, woman she shows.
My next thought was “how many blacks were victims of Bundy?
And why is this being brought out years after he was executed?”
Next thought was “revered?” Well not the way Tiger Woods is, he likes ‘em alive! (Bundy was hated and feared, never revered)
I’m never going to go on “refinery29” again. OK, forget the word, again.
What a poorly thought out POS article.
When your crappy education and culture gives you only a green kaleidoscope to see the world with, you are bound to think you are underwater looking for a shattered world.
Get her a job she can do — writing isn’t it.
