Rep. Marino said the following:
As of January 23, 2019, I am officially stepping down from Congress. Having spent over two decades serving the public, I have chosen to take a position in the private sector where I can use both my legal and business experience to create jobs around the nation. I want to thank the people of the 12th Congressional District of Pennsylvania for the faith they have placed in me to represent them in Congress. It truly has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I worked in Congress to fight for the hardworking people of our region and I am proud of the work we have accomplished. I am confident that the area will continue to thrive.

Governors can’t appoint to the House but can to the Senate for a tenure of no more than two years.
Maybe he couldn't stomach the thought of two years of listening to Nanzi Pug-ugly and the "Axis of Evil" freshman airheads AOC and the Mu-slimes that want to turn this country into a Socialist he!! hole run under Sharia Law.
At least the public only has to deal with these four on the news and can easily avoid that. Hard to do when you share a work environment with them.
Right — sorry about that. Tom Marino, Lou Barletta ... I always get their first names mixed up. LOL.
Any Pennsylvania Freepers tell me about this district?
How does the seat get filled? If the Governor appoints,
Interesting primary upcoming?
R+17
Ok, what did he do?
Any chance that the Rats could steal this seat...as they did Alabama’s Senate seat?
Did Luca Bracci make him an offer he couldn’t refuse?
House vacancies are always filled by special election, unless so close to general election there isn’t time. The governor doesn’t appoint, the seat doesn’t stay vacant, etc.
Live boy or dead girl?
BS,,,,he knows the world about to drop on him f he doesnt resign. This is clearly an individual part of the swamp that Trump is draining. Hes neck deep involved in either the drug trade or pharmaceuticals or both exposed on a 60 minute interview after a particular vote in Congress that kinda shocked people.
Trump made this discovery after his name was on a short list for the drug czar position.
Betcha Trump took him to the woodshed and was told you can retire the right way or the painful way
+17 points R according to the Cook Partisan Index (CPI). It wasn’t a competitive race in 2016. The Democrats will fly into a frenzy, but with the low turnout of special elections, that’s a very high mountain to climb. I doubt that they even have a competent party apparatus in that district.

When there are postings like this about a local event I always hope someone from the area would provide some insight into what’s going on.
Instead and this drives me nuts because it detracts on the value of using Free Republic for info but happens all too often. Here’s 31 replies at this writing ,from everywhere including Zambia from our keyboard cow punchers who somehow feel compelled to offer their worthless comment. .
And the Dem gov gets to appoint his successor, Dr. Thomas Westerman Wolf is an American politician and businessman who has served as the 47th Governor of Pennsylvania since January 20, 2015. A Democrat, he was elected in the 2014 gubernatorial election and re-elected in 2018
He should have stuck it out for the next 2 yrs. Traitor.
It’s one of the most conservative districts in the entire nation.
In all fairness, it could be a health problem that he isn’t ready to disclose to the public yet.
Not for long....
