This speech wasn't directed at politically astute people like you find here on Free Republic. It was directed at uninformed Americans who are growing resentful about the shutdown.
Almost every conservative political pundit in the media over the last few weeks has suggested he do EXACTLY what he did tonight.

Trumps speech was very understated and nothing that he hasn’t been saying for awhile.

St Michael has always been our defender...the patron saint of police and military, btw ...that ‘s why non-pope Francis has been trying to Stop people from saying this prayer. We had a big thing in my parish recently where the VII adoring pastor claimed that the prayer to Saint Michael is not permitted in the NO rite.
Actually, the prayer is just fine, because it was always outside of the mass (that is, after the closing blessing and dismissal) and he was completely wrong to try to stop the faithful from praying it. But I want to know why Francis and his followers are so scared of it.
