Support for banning bump stocks is widespread, and its encouraging to see the Trump administration take action on gun safety.
But lets not celebrate too quickly. Presidents can rescind regulations just as easily as they create them, and in this case, the bump stock ban will likely be tied up in court for years. Only hours after the Trump administration released its final regulation, Gun Owners of America announced it would file a lawsuit.
To ensure a ban is implemented and protected from legal challenges, Congress must still pass a law banning bump stocks and other similar devices, such as trigger cranks.
The sale and manufacture of automatic weapons have been illegal since the National Firearms Act was updated in 1986. The law even though it eased restrictions on most guns by allowing interstate sales of long guns and removing requirements to record ammunition sales made clear that civilians should not have such weapons.

Almost a "gotcha" header. One would have thought from the header that there was a constitutional problem but, as is not unusual for 'trigger finger finesteen', she wants to add more infringements to the 2nd Amendment. As for the "widespread support", I'd be more inclined to believe that "widespread ignorance" is more likely the case. Due to lies spread by the msm and lie-berals.

gasbag feinstein disappointed the court system works for the other side, after decades of hysterical libs taking advantage of the judicial system.
To: rktman
I just assumed the only reason she had a problem with it is that the president is proposing it.

Feinstein admits the way President Trump banned bumpstocks was not correct. So she wants to have a legislative solution.
The GREAT AMERICAN BUMP-STOCK BAN bill will consist of the following:
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of bump-stocks.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of trigger cranks.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of binary triggers.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of standard-capacity magazines.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of semi-automatics.
- Bans handguns.
- Mandates a background check for private sales of firearms.
- Mandates a background check for sales of ammunition.
- Mandates a background check for sales of firearm accessories.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of pump-action firearms.
- Bans handguns again, but this time, harder.
- Mandates storage requirements in the home for all firearms: Unloaded, in a floor-standing safe.
- Bans concealed carry.
- Mandates liability insurance of one million dollars per firearm.
- Bans handguns yet again.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of lever action firearms.
- Bans laser and telescopic sighting apparatus.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of revolver-action firearms.
- Bans all firearm magazines.
- Mandates liability insurance of one million dollars per cartridge.
- Bans handguns yet again.
- Bans all reloading equipment.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of bolt-action firearms.
- Bans all gunpowder or propellent.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of breech-action firearms.
- Bans manufacture, sales, and possession of muzzle-loaded firearms.
- Bans all rifles.
- Bans all shotguns.
- Bans all handguns.
- Bans all ammunition.
- Bans the possession of metal in civilian hands.
- Bans civilians.
- Bans non-civilians.
- Bans absolutely everything in the universe.
- Bans the universe.
- Bans handguns again.

LOL! That and it’s not actually a law. Of course whenever obxxx wrote some BS it was as good as a law then.

Yes, the actual list is 715 pages.
Which, curiously, is banned.

The sale and manufacture of automatic weapons have been illegal since the National Firearms Act was updated in 1986.Wouldn't it be cool if we held the majority in both the House and Senate so we could repeal nonsensical laws like this one and 1934's ban on silencers and short-barreled rifles? It could be a nice gesture to the millions of gun-owners who dutifully vote GOP every election.
Sigh... Maybe some day.

Yeah, with “TGTS”* ongoing, not much chance of anything pro 2nd happening in the next couple of days when the d-lusionals take control of the house. Do you wonder if they might have done something in the past 2 years? Nope. Too busy investigating the investigators that were investigating the investigations.

Does anyone remember the ex post facto clause of the Constitution?

Bump stocks are a fun waste of ammo. Sound suppressors, on the other hand, are a health issue where the use of same would save folks’ hearing! Guess which the ‘legislators’ will allow in civi hands without restrictions.

You miss the point...banning bump stocks is a tacit admission that an inanimate object is intrinsically evil. Opens the door to banning any other inanimate object (such as guns) that some asshole politician dislikes.
