BERLIN Denmark became the second European country to halt future arms exports to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, following a similar decision by neighboring Germany earlier this month. The Danish announcement comes the same week President Trump backed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, despite the CIA assessing that he ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Denmarks ban includes goods that can be used both for military and civilian purposes but is still less expansive than the German measures, which also included sales that had already been approved.
While the Nordic country is a tiny arms equipment exporter in comparison to bigger players such as the United States, Britain or France, its decision will likely exacerbate concerns within the European arms industry of a growing anti-Saudi consensus in the European Union and beyond.
Even though Trump has suggested that he will put Saudi investments and arms exports revenues above human rights concerns, lawmakers across the political spectrum and on both sides of the Atlantic have grown increasingly alarmed.

Lets make Saudi Arabia just like Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan.
Is that the plan??????
No thanks.
I see Denmark has chosen to join the Iranian coalition - good to know.
I am amused by these European nations outraged by the murder of a radical Muslim Brotherhood fanatic who was trying to destroy Christianity. It was these same Europeans who enthusiastically helped the Nazis round up the Jews living amongst them knowing quite well they they would be put to death. Spare me the sanctimony.
We can say with certainty that no Danish Ham is inported to the Kingdom
One wonders if Lego weapons truly make a difference in the war in Yemen or the coming war with Iran
Old Europe is dying off, having traded their future (children) for luxuries today.
I’m sure Trump has a representative of ours cleaning up those newly available sales opportunities.
The future is east of Suez
99.99999999% of Americans don’t care.
Euros doing anything to kill Jews.
But they’re more than willing to do business with the greatest threat in the Middle East...Iran.
It was these same Europeans who enthusiastically helped the Nazis round up the Jews living amongst them knowing quite well they they would be put to death. Spare me the sanctimony............................... Denmark????
The Danes are credited for their resistance to the deportation of Danish Jews and for aiding their escape to Sweden, and rightfully so. But, the Danish Waffen SS troops aided the German troops who attempted to round up the Jews. Even in Denmark, the evil doers were present.
Meanwhile we find German centrifuges in Iran... hypocrites
Doesn’t Germany supply arms to Iran?
Wasn’t it an SS Officer that tipped off the Danes to get the Jews out ASAP? (Good among evil too?) Most of the Danish Waffen SS were sent to the Eastern Front along with Norwegians, Belgians, Swedes, and Dutch, volunteers. Some of the units were the last to surrender to the Russians. They were despised by their countrymen and many never returned home. My guess the ranks of the French Foreign Legion had no shortage of volunteers nor did several dictatorships in South America. A most interesting post war era, the late 40’s.
How does NOT selling weapons to Saudi Arabia accomplish that?
Yes, I think that you have it right. The SS Officer was recognized after the war, like Schindler.
The Saudis are secretly working with Israel to keep the Iranians from controlling the Middle East.
