The cable network made an emergency request so its correspondent could have access to the White House as lawsuit continues.
WASHINGTONA federal judge granted an emergency motion to restore the White House press credential of CNN correspondent Jim Acostaa victory for the network in a closely watched press-freedom case.
The lawsuit could determine whether the government can ban individual reporters from public buildings.
District Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed to the bench by President Trump, granted CNNs request for a restraining order temporarily restoring Mr. Acostas press access to the White House while the case proceeds.
Lawyers for Mr. Acosta, the networks chief White House correspondent, argued that the unusual revocation of a reporters press pass by the White House last week necessitated emergency action.
Mr. Trump has regularly attacked CNN, and Thursdays ruling was a setback for the White House. Government lawyers acknowledged in court they knew of no other situation where the White House had revoked a press pass under similar circumstances.
The legal maneuvering was part of a CNN lawsuit alleging that the Trump administration violated Mr. Acostas First Amendment right to gather news, as well as his due-process right to challenge a government-imposed punishment. Judge Kelly didnt rule on the merits of CNNs overall case.

No, do not give in.
Treat the injunction like a death sntence, appeal, appeal, appeal and continue barring Acosta a hard pass
Tragic!
A Federal Presidential Judge will then order that Jim Acosta’s jaw be wired open.
Just have Acosta charged under 18 USC 111.
Yup.
FreeReign the internet poster wants a press pass. Where's mine??
The 1A doesn't apply, so that shoots down everyone's request for a press pass.
The crux of the issue is the 5A, which subjects the revocation to due process. You listed a few basic requirements regarding decorum and behavior; establish those as rules of conduct.
Next time Acostus - or any other person - violated the terms of agreement, they can be suspended, revoked and/or ejected. This isn't a win, but a major impetus to now impose defined rules.
Then I nominate you for a press pass!
The President needs to say no and end this bs.
The media can submit their questions in writing.
Trump and Sanders can pick the ones they want to answer.
problem solved.
I am furious at this.
Acosta is mentally unhinged and a danger to the President. He not only shouldn’t be allowed to pull of his self-serving demands for attention on a daily basis, he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere NEAR the President - PERIOD.
And now some frigging asshole Judge claims this is some kind of RIGHT?
Okay. I guess we all have a right to walk onto CNN’s set and say whatever we want and act however we want, then. Isn’t that as much OUR “first amendment” right as harassing the President is Jim’s?
AT MINIMUM, if I were Trump, I’d say “okay. I’m not holding any more Press briefings - period” and let the vermin sit there. Hopefully the other press jackals will begin hating Acosta as much as he deserves for causing THEM to lose THEIR ability to ask the President questions (well, until some asshole liberal judge demands the President come out and answer all of their questions, that is).
I think he’s pushing for his own show anyway.
How does this even work? ( Haven’t read through any posts yet but appears like BS).
On what legal grounds?!
When does Alex Jones get back on YouTube then?
When do legal gun sellers get to sell via PayPal again?
What about their rights?
Or have we become a damned strictly political nation where the political chosen class gets rights over the little people?
F- this.
They need to defy the order. It’s just that simple. He can be labelled a security risk. Burn his pass and put it in a twitter video, it will break “Like” records.
And it’s passed time to move all the filth out the WH and across the street to the OEOB. These enemies don’t need to be breathing the same air as the President.
This is just crazy-wrong on so many levels.
... Or... give the microphone to the same intern he pushed away. She holds it at all times, in front of the person who is asking the question and never relinquishes control of it.
When POTUS says, “Next question,” she takes the mike to the next person.
This is how it is handled during in house Q&A sessions in some major corporations.
Employees get to speak through a mike held by an assigned person. It works.. The press should not get to control it. When you watch the full Acosta video you can clearly see he has no intent on relinquishing the Mike before he does his arm bar maneuver...
Not me.
You’re in fantasyland.
He’ll be a hero. And then other reporters will say I give the mic to Acosta.
