It is my birthday today, so I get to post the live thread. :)
Some places to watch:
Politico SenateReal Clear Politics
The RATS, at least the ones online, seem to be going ballistic tonight that they narrowly lost Georgia and Florida. I expect them to start rioting and breaking stuff again. "WHY do we ALWAYS lose Florida??" (gosh, I thought Jeb Bush was responsible for that). They're sharing some video about sawing off Florida from the rest of the country and letting it sink in the ocean. Also hating on Texas. They obviously expected to win all those races.
That was my point. Those were indeed giant waves. This one is not!
All the more -- Clinton and Obama both had a super-sympathetic media on their sides. President Trump? No POTUS has ever had such an unrelenting, baseless assault like he has.
In 2010, Obama lost 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats. Yet his godliness wasn't tarnished in the least.
Tonight we lost maybe half that amount in the House, but yet GAINED seats in the Senate, and it's like the end of the world around here.
This is a pretty good result. Bad would have been losing the House by more than 50, and losing the Senate as well.
Keep things in context people! And, if you cannot, then stay away from razors until you come to your senses!
HE did? I thought Faso was pro-life.
Ok.. I am personally gonna call it..
MN1 will have flipped republican..
Mower county has not reported but went +8 for trump
Only 8 of 32 have reported in Brown county but it went +36(!) for trump.
Hagedorn is up by 700... that should grow if these other counties ever report.
It’s a very long stretch because these counties are not that populated, but, Ellison only won by about 9000 votes. Wadena (in MN8) has not reported yet, it also went very heavy Trump..
so it’s a very slight chance that Ellison might lose yet.
Black outrage. I love it. Cry Stacy Abrams, cry (Gillum lost but she’s not cooked yet).
“Its a matter of time before GA and FL become D.”
I can’t speak for Ga., but I can for Florida. We absorb over 300,000 people a year, mostly from the NorthEast and Ill, and we still manage to come through each election. We have had a Rep. as gov for 24 years, now another term with DeSantis. And we sent Nelson packing, now we have 2 R’s for the Senate.
There was no Blue Wave in Florida in spite of all the out of state money that poured in from Steyner and Soros, we beat a forever incumbent in Nelson and we overcame a terrible campaign by DeSantis (give President Trump a lot of credit there).
I think we do a pretty good job at it.
Glad someone is talking sense around here. Cant stand the Nancys.
“What vote is still out in the AZ senate race?”
Maricopa and Pima have a long way to go. Maricopa is running dead even but Pima is pulling hard for the fruitcake. Impossible to know what’s left..cities or burbs? McSally could easily lose this one, ugh!
We took a beating, there is no way to sugarcoat it. We lost the House, some Governors like Walker and may end up with only an additional 2 Senate seats. The worst part about it is the trend we see in the SW, where those States are becoming deep Blue.
Wacky Jackie Rosen thanking her SEIU union thug supporters in Nevada now. Barf!
my bad.. it’s very late.. it’s a 100,000 vote difference...
but MN1 is still in play.
Same here.
No one is being a ‘nancy’ just realistically assessing the damage. Could it have been worse, sure. But it wasn’t a great night. If we can hold Ariz and pick up Montana it will be a much better result. At least we get 4 total Senate seats.
The Dems have just won the 218th seat. We have won only 193 seats, down from 242 seats! It is a blue wave. Pelosi has a comfortable majority. You are not being honest with yourself.
Flake would have been trounced by a Democrat had he sought re-election.
McSally will probably pull through but its scant comfort its so close.
The problem I see is we let the Democrats own the healthcare and education issues and we don’t need to.
Good example in Florida:
Every election we hear the same thing about our state is so bad at public education, when in reality we do a great job with our kids. Reason magazine just rated Florida #3 in the nation in quality of education and #1 in bang for the buck. That’s something we never talk about and we need to stop giving the issue to Democrats.
He claims to be pro-life, but he’s too careful with the politics, I believe.
My husband called his office about his vote, and the aid said he’s pro-life. We don’t need pro-lifers like that.
LOL! Love it. At least we can all enjoy some schadenfreude over those GOP wins. :-D
"Could have been worse" is not sugarcoating! It is fact.
It has *always* been worse for every first-term president (except for GWB in 2002, due to 9/11 -- an outlier).
Were you expecting to gain seats in both the Senate AND the House tonight? If so, based on what?
My wife....but she aint cheap...
