We took a beating, there is no way to sugarcoat it.

"Could have been worse" is not sugarcoating! It is fact.

It has *always* been worse for every first-term president (except for GWB in 2002, due to 9/11 -- an outlier).

Were you expecting to gain seats in both the Senate AND the House tonight? If so, based on what?

I was hoping to hold the House! The fact that this is ‘historical’ doesn’t make it any less painful. We can take some solace in what wins we did have.

In a normal country, the Republicans would have kept both houses and won every other race due to the strong economy.

That apparsntlg didn’t matter to most voters in the House races.

I was expecting modest losses of about 20-25 seats, it will probably end up over 40 seats. This is called a blue wave.
