SENATOR LISA MURKOWSKI: I did not come to a decision on this until walking onto the floor this morning. I have been wrestling to really try to know what is fair and what is right, and the truth is, that none of this has been fair.
This hasnt been fair to the judge, but I also recognize that we need to have institutions that are viewed as fair and if people who are victims, people who feel that there is no fairness in our system of government, particularly in our courts, then youve gone down a path that is not good and right for this country. And so I have been wrestling with whether or not this was about qualifications of a good man or is this bigger than the nomination.
And I believe were dealing with issues right now that are bigger than the nominee and how we ensure fairness and how our legislative and judicial branch can continue to be respected. This is what I have been wrestling with, and so I made the took the very difficult vote that I did.
I believe Brett Kavanaughs a good man. It just may be that in my view hes not the right man for the court at this time. So I have taken my vote here this morning, Im going to go back to my office and write a floor statement that is more fulsome and have the opportunity to have that.
But this has truly been the most difficult evaluation of a decision that I have ever had to make, and Ive made some interesting ones in my career.

The stupid, it hurts...
I hope McConnell removes her from the Senate Native Affairs committee. That would put a kink in her treachery.
Here she is worried about a victim, that can’t on any level prove she was one, let alone that Kavanaugh was involved.
None the less, she goes off on a rant about victims and how they deserve to be considered.
Again, the stupid, it hurts...
“people who feel that there is no fairness in our system of government, particularly in our courts, then youve gone down a path that is not good and right for this country.”
Just change “courts” to “Senate confirmation process” and you’ll have it right, Senator.
Details matter.
The bottom line is that the next time Senator Murkowski is up for election, there should have been a long term effort to find and fully fund a Republican candidate to challenge her in the primary.
This is a matter of “party discipline”. If necessary, another Republican should run against her as a Democrat, so that even if she manages to pull through the primary, she will still not be out of the woods.
Republican In Name Only is no longer acceptable, and RINOs need to be systematically purged from the party.
“Turtle Power - ACTIVATE!”
Umm whatcha talking about there speedy?

2022 is a long time away.
Yes, there are bigger issues...except they argue for Kavanaugh to be confirmed.
After this dumpster fire is over, where does Judge Kavanaugh go to get his reputation back, the one he's spent a lifetime building?
So, she is being unfair to be fair?

If Judge Kavanaugh does not get confirmed, the real victim, in addition to Judge Kavanaugh, is our FRee Republic and the citizens thereof!
Senator Murkowski may just want to contemplate where her REAL place in American History will be should she not vote for his confirmation!
“And the Alaskan Native corporations that back me insisted that they wanted a moderate or liberal court . . .”
No, Lisa, if you really want to be honest about this, admit you are a COWARD. Wouldn’t it be great if Sarah Palin replaced you!
Sarah Palin, but not until 2022.
LOL
she read these on the floor of the Senate?
It seems to me that she was all but replaced until someone begged her to run independently, and paid her campaign a large donation.
The speech Susan Collins gave indicates that she too was wrestling with this for a long time, but had made a decision long before walking on to the Senate Floor. Is that what we want, Senators who don’t know how they’re going to vote until the walk on to the floor.?
Your vote means nothing now. Nothing.
Nobody cares “why”. The left has made this their hill to die on and Murkowski chose to join them on that hill. Now everyone knows where she stands in the war against decency and justice.
This is why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed. Senators must be accountable to the states. If the senator does not do the bidding of the state legislators, he/she should be recalled and REPLACED. The states are sovereign entities and must be treated respectfully.
