Rosenstein will demand that if the WH wants him gone, they'll have to fire him.

Don’t fire Rosenstein, Demote him. Make him the Assistant AG in Charge of Porcelain and Urinals. Hand him a brush and tell him his cart is waiting over at Justice. If he balks, tell him Sessions will be joining him shortly.

When you understand the official "legal" status of the Deputy AG post, you realize that Sessions' decision to recuse himself may have been the best thing he could have done to help Trump.
The U.S. Attorney General position is written into Federal law.
The Deputy AG post is not.
IIRC Roger Stone had said that the DoJ slipped in a change of succession such that swamp creatures would fill the RR role if he left, at least three deep. (However, it also seemed like a Trump friendly guy had been introduced somewhere into the DoJ a few months ago, as if being positioned for a larger role.)
I wonder if this has been changed and who will/would slip into his position on an acting basis.

I thought resignation in anticipation was an interesting gambit - wondering if that was enough to set off the Congress like a bunch of poo-flinging monkeys.
Not sure a resignation would be accepted. They may want to take him out of the office in handcuffs in front of everybody.
You could take away his security clearance.

Sounds very credible. But I would prefer that Trump not fire him but let the IG examine the evidence and fire him.
All the Rinos and media will attack Trump if he’s let go or resigns.
