Mayor Mike Rawlings said Saturday that hes sure justice will be served for Botham Shem Jean.
Jean, 26, was killed in his own apartment on Thursday night by an off-duty, uniformed Dallas Police officer who said she mistook Jeans apartment for her own when she got off work at about 10 p.m.
Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said yesterday at my request, we are in the process of obtaining a warrant based on the circumstances we have now. She later added the warrant would be for manslaughter.

No, white. Long blonde hair in a pony-tail.
Supposedly a 15 year veteran of the force [IIRC] ... she had just gotten off a 12 hour shift and was in full uniform.
The videos at Heavy have videos of her and the medics.
A name floated around on this source

Texas is pretty liberal about shooting someone in YOUR own home.
How do you misidentify your own home? Even after a long shift, most people find their own home on mental “auto-pilot”.
Correction: 5 [FIVE] year veteran of the police force.
She has a vagina, so its manslaughter and will probably not see a day in jail due to pussy pass.
Male officer in same situation would be crucified.
But she was not able to get the door open with her key. Not surprising as it was not her home. Supposedly he heard someone at the door and answered.
My thoughts are: What made it a crime that required shooting him too kill?
Wouldn’t she have said, “you’re in my home. Turn around to cuff you and you’re under arrest.
What warranted shooting him?
You should see her eyelashes. Long fake eyelashes on the chief of police do not fill me with confidence.
OMG .... this article has a phono of her with him a nd says ‘SHE KNEW HIM WELL”.
Also, another article [I can’t find yet] says her “Intagram name was “something-bunny”. I’ll post it if I can find it again.
Very suspicious!
How do they feel about shooting someone in THEIR home?
The only thing I can say in her defense is that, if she really thought it was her apartment, a man opening the door would have appeared to be a serious threat, since police are under such heavy attack everywhere. Some police officers have been so threatened at their home addresses that they have virtual fortresses and all of them are on edge all the time.
At first I thought she was probably drunk or something but if she just got off a 12-hour shift, that was obviously not the case. I didnt think so initially, but with a better idea of what happened, I think manslaighter is probably right.
Reports are officer is white.
The officer who killed a man in his apartment Thursday after she apparently
mistook it for her own home also shot a suspect during an arrest in 2017.
Officer Amber Guyger has not been officially named in connection with the
shooting, but a source within the Dallas Police Department has identified her.
Guyger, who has been with the department almost five years, was not indicted in
the 2017 shooting of the suspect who had taken her Taser from her during a struggle.
I find it hard to believe, had a regular citizen went to the wrong apt by mistake, and shot the resident, that manslaughter would have been the charge.
In Texas manslaughter is when someones reckless actions cause the death of another. Pulling a gun and shooting a man point blank, in his own home, does not seem reckless, it seems an awful lot like intent.
As far as I am concerned this was murder.
Another couple of points, the ZDallas News, which appears reputable says she moved into the apartment complex with her family 4 weeks ago.
There are a lot of good cops, but there are a lot of bad ones too who have no business with a badge. Especially big city cops. I have seen first hand, cops trying to wiggle out of a sticky situation, and their buddies helping them.
Give a few months, when the spotlight is off, she will be back on the job.
“Texas is pretty liberal about shooting someone in YOUR own home.”
Texas does not have a Someone Else’s Apartment Doctrine.
I’m still thinking she had drinks after her shift. Not that it’s an excuse.
