My thoughts are: What made it a crime that required shooting him too kill?
Wouldn’t she have said, “you’re in my home. Turn around to cuff you and you’re under arrest.

What warranted shooting him?

The only thing I can say in her defense is that, if she really thought it was her apartment, a man opening the door would have appeared to be a serious threat, since police are under such heavy attack everywhere. Some police officers have been so threatened at their home addresses that they have virtual fortresses and all of them are on edge all the time.

At first I thought she was probably drunk or something but if she just got off a 12-hour shift, that was obviously not the case. I didn’t think so initially, but with a better idea of what happened, I think manslaighter is probably right.
