Kamala Harris And Brett Kavanaugh Had A Very Weird Exchange At His Confirmation Hearing

More than 12 hours into Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Sen. Kamala Harris raised a question about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation that appeared to take everyone by surprise.

"Have you ever discussed Special Counsel Mueller or his investigation with anyone?" Harris asked, prompting Kavanaugh to note that the topic is "in the news everyday" and that he had discussed it "with other judges."

Then, however, Harris shifted to a far more direct question: "Have you discussed Mueller or his investigation with anyone at Kasowitz Benson and Torres, the law firm found by Marc Kasowitz, President Trump's personal lawyer?"

And though that question amounted to a near-accusation that the senator never quite made, Kavanaugh also was unable to give a direct answer — leaving the issue unresolved going into Thursday, what will be the third day of Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing.

Nothing about such a communication between Kavanaugh and a lawyer from the Kasowitz firm has been reported previously, and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the exchange.

Then just say, I have no idea who is or was at that firm or when. I have had conversations referencing the Russia thing, but nothing on a professional level.

He knows damn well if he had that conversation.

Never doubted he knows who he spoke with, my point is she didn’t asked about a specific person. Harris is a witch rivaling almost Hillary. If she wants a specific, then ask a specific question!

I don’t agree. You are not being real world here. It is the simplest exchange in the world to map. You don’t remember any such conversation and you don’t know everyone on staff at that law office. You say no. Harris comes up with a date and an encounter and you look like a liar. You still don’t remember the conversation or you remember the occasion but it was a lecture you gave and the conversation was with someone who came up to you after and asked a question or some other situation where judges/lawyers are together but in a wider circle where you don’t know job history of everyone.

Now you are on the defensive and get rattled. A key part of testifying is to give a short factual answer and only if you know the answer. The truly stupid action is to seize on an easy answer to get off the hot seat.

Let's look at a hypothetical.

Kavanaugh is out to lunch. One of the Attorneys from the firm mentioned approaches Kavanaugh's table. "Hello Judge Kavanaugh. Congratulations on your nomination. We've been working with the President on the Mueller Case. It might just come before you someday.

"It could happen", responded Judge Kavanaugh.

"Have a nice day".

But he did say that. That was her lead in to the question. He said he had discussed it among other judges.

I believe she was openly disciplined during one of the Congressional Hearings.

“He knows damn well if he had that conversation.”

What does “that conversation” refer to and who did he have it with?

That law firm has over 250 lawyers in 9 offices throughout the country. And since the question asked about “anyone,” that would include all the secretaries and paralegals and receptionists and HR and accounting and IT and other myriad support staff. Quite a list of people when asked such a vague “gotcha” type question.

If you’ve ever gone to a saloon with a bunch of attorneys and judges, you’d know that what they constantly do, is toss around ideas, opinions, cases or whatever you want to call them.

RIGHT.....the whole idea is to make it so Kavanaugh must recuse himself on X Y and Z and Mueller-Russia when he is on the Supreme Court.

The good part is though Kavanaugh was blindsided he will be ready today and any day this BS is brought up again.

Trap question and supposing that he did? So what....There are discussions all over the place with every damn attorney around. It’s one huge round table discussion and everyone has an opinion. It’s what the courts are for...to settle these matters.

And "So what?" should have been his reply if he had. By trying to tap-dance around the question he's making it look suspicious. It just goes to show that you can prep a person for these kind of hearings until the cows come home and there's always something that can come out of left field.

Then he may be answering a question she didn't ask. Her question said nothing about Russia.

That's why Kavanaugh is a very successful lawyer, and we're not.

A saloon? LOL. this isn’t the wild west. But mostly, when I go to those lawyer parties, we talk about non-controversial boring stuff like our families and kids’ activities because we are exhausted from the constant conflict we are always doing professionally.

Harris would not have asked that question, and pressed it such a hard and rude fashion, unless she knew the answer.

She never revealed who she was referring to because that would have divulged her source and thereby who the Democrat stooge was inside the law firm in question. Likely, if the name was revealed, he or she would have lost her job.

I think the game plan there was to possibly force him to recuse himself if any Mueller investigation items ever went to the Supreme Court for a ruling (such as forcing the President to go under oath at a grand jury).

Why should he?
Neither Andrew Wesissman (for his contacts with Bruce Ohr before the Mueller investigation), nor Rod Rosenstein ( for signing FISA warrants based on fake dossiers from Hilary campaign), have excused themselves.

I really think Kavanaugh did not come off well and needs to answer the flipping question unless it is somehow privileged information.

Why? Are you insane? The question is a trap.

Harris is a whore that screwed her way to the top in SF, a communist and is laying a perjury trap.

If she names a specific person, and he knows the answer, then he can answer, if not, it is, 'I don't recall, senator, you whore'. Was willie brown good sex?

It was a modern day saloon in a big city.

Typical lunch hour at the nearest "bar" if that suits your vocabulary better. Never heard anything about family during these lunch hours.
