Tuesdays primaries show theres no doubt the Democratic Party is lurching to the left.
The last time Florida Democrats won the states governorship was in 1994. With GOP Gov. Rick Scott leaving office to run for U.S. Senate, Democratic Party leaders were determined to nominate a candidate who could appeal to centrists. They recruited former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham, the daughter of a popular former governor and U.S. senator, who had won support from business in the past.
But in a major upset, Graham lost the gubernatorial primary to Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who had the endorsement of Bernie Sanders and top liberal donors George Soros and Tom Steyer. Gillum swept the states urban areas by targeting young people, single women and black voters a coalition he hopes to ride to victory in November.
The governors race in the nations third-most populous state will probably represent the starkest ideological contrast in the country. Gillum is unapologetically liberal, calling for a $15 an hour minimum wage and repeal of the states stand your ground law, which allows residents to use force without retreating to defend themselves against threats. Gillums GOP opponent will be U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, who swept the Republican primary with the endorsement of President Trump. DeSantis is also the favorite of free-market groups such as the Club for Growth. During his career in Congress he has riled some of his colleagues by opposing the use of taxpayer dollars to settle sexual misconduct claims and to give Congress special privileges under ObamaCare.
Despite DeSantis maverick history, you can expect the national media to shower Gillum with favorable coverage. Much like African-American gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Gillum will be heralded as a symbol of a New South that is progressive and focused on diversity.

Liberals versus Americans.
I’m rooting for the Americans.
Technically this really ups the stakes.
Imagine what our country if the loony left actually won this one.
US Republicans should switch parties to help nominate these people. It’s Trump’s GOP. Let him endorse our WINNERS. WE can help by nominating the whack jobs.
I keep saying....
It’s not gonna be a blue wave.
It’s not gonna be a blue wave.
It’s gonna be a Trump wave.
And, democrats will want to leave the country in waves.
This is not going to help with Democrat enthusiasm in November. Should be a number of Democrat Congressmen worrying about how this will affect them when they are tied to this guy.
Trump will coast to a second term by repeating the Nixon ‘72 strategy.
You may not like me. You may think I am a nasty, morally deficient guy.
But my opponents are all bat-poop insane. You HAVE NO CHOICE except to vote for me.
Trump vs Bernie in a way
Conservatism vs Socialism
FL people like their ability to make money and there’s plenty to be made there. It’s a very capitalist place. DeSantis will do fine as long as he doesn’t have anymore gaffs.
I hear Zimbabwe and North Korea are building enclaves for communist American expatriots.
Even if Gollum wins, he’ll soon find out that Florida Governors have very little actual power..................
Florida, unlike California, has a large population of Hispanics whose families actually lived and fled from socialist/communist countries like Cuba and Venezuela. Those folks aren’t going to be anxious to support someone who espouses the same values as those in countries they fled from.
This is a Trump wave of Trump Republicans. Sander’s supporters are out for payback from the Democrats for cheating him out of the 2016 nomination. The result is Democrats nationally have a coalition of socialists and anti-American bigots. Their defeat will not look pretty.
It would be more accurate to say focused on "black supremacy" than "diversity."
What’s with this new south stuff?
They still are peddling that in the media?
Civil Rights movement achieved major goals 50+ years ago.
Heck, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were both said to be the new breed of southern politicians decades ago.
I don't think PRINT is where Nixon was. Certainly those criteria will come into play for some folks, but despite MSM efforts, lots of people genuinely like Trump because he knows how to play nasty. Many voters know we are in a political street brawl for the future of this nation and are grateful we finally have somebody on our side willing to take the gloves off.
I think you mean Socialists vs Americans.
Plenty of decent but deluded liberals want nothing to do with these extreme left-wing candidates.
If they can’t vote for the republican and just stay home instead. it’s a win.
Why is opposing the use of taxpayer dollars to settle sexual misconduct claims and to give Congress special privileges under ObamaCare an extreme position for Republicans?
Oh, already the liberal Florida media is trying to play the “Republican is racist!” card.
Such tactics are getting old.

Early polls show Desantis up by 3 over the Communist Gillum.
I live in FL. We are a state of small businesses, and I cannot express how fast we would devolve into a welfare state if the left ever really got into power here.
This is a state full of disabled people who live on very little money, many homeless. If the democrats ever get hold to create their “utopia” it would be horrible. It would become so crime-ridden, and so full of homeless, it would be terrible. The small businesses, many of which barely hang on, would just give up and we would have blocks and blocks of empty buildings.
We are just now recovering after all these years of Obama.
