Ann Coulter Slams ‘Open Borders Zealots’ on Trump’s SCOTUS Shortlist, Backs Kavanaugh
Breitbart ^

Posted on 07/04/2018 1:49:49 PM PDT by springwater13

Ann Coulter unloaded on Judge Raymond Kethledge, one of the judges President Donald Trump interviewed to potentially replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, on Twitter Wednesday.

“Hardiman & Kethledge are open borders zealots,” the New York Times best-selling author and populist conservative columnist said in the most explosive of her tweets.

The tweet followed one in which she chastised those on the right pushing for Kethledge, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, as repeating the mistakes of the past that led to Republican administrations nominating judges, such as Justice David Souter, who became massive disappointments to conservatives.

Coulter, a University of Michigan Law School grad, threw her weight behind Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the D.C. Circuit, comparing his record on immigration, the issue on which Coulter most closely focuses, to the other reported candidates. She also pointed to Kavanaugh’s strength on the Second Amendment.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who has emerged as a conservative favorite in the nomination process, was also featured in Coulter’s analysis. Coulter did not explicitly attack Barrett, but explained her preference for Kavanugh by pointing to Barrett’s relative lack of experience. Barrett has only been a judge for seven months and has never ruled on a wide variety of issues. Coulter saw her as a potential “blank slate” and warned against nominating anyone on the basis of being a woman.

Matthew Downer, clerk for Kethledge 11:14 AM - 4 Jul 2018 ‏

Judge Kethledge rigorously enforces all laws as they are written, including the immigration laws. He knows that faithfully applying the Immigration and Nationality Act means respecting Congress's decision to give federal courts only a limited role in the immigration process.

In Khalil v. Holder, Kethledge upheld a finding that the petitioner was not entitled to asylum because he was not a credible witness. Kethledge pointed out multiple inconsistencies in the petitioner's story that undermined his asylum claim.

In Japarkulova v. Holder, Kethledge recognized—over a dissent from a liberal judge—that courts must defer to the executive branch's determination that an immigrant is not eligible for asylum. Even though the petitioner had a compelling life story, Kethledge upheld the law.

In Mora v. Holder, the petitioner entered the US legally at age 14 but then overstayed his visa. Kethledge noted that if the petitioner had been a citizen, “we would call him a model one.” But Judge Kethledge recognized that the courts lacked authority to grant him relief.

In his more than 10 years on the bench, Judge Kethledge has encountered hundreds of immigration cases. He shows no favoritism to immigrants--or to the government, for that matter--and instead focuses only on applying the laws passed by Congress as they are written.

Kethledge paid his own way through law school after working as a waiter and (new) car salesman. He delivered pizzas for Dominos and did landscaping during college. And he’s spent the last 3+ decades in Michigan. He would bring some much needed perspective from middle America.

Ann has a lot of tweets this morning about Kethledge’s rulings weak on immigration.

https://twitter.com/AnnCoulter

Patel v. USCIS, 732 F.3d 633 Judge Kethledge rules agst U.S. to allow a foreigner, who had overstayed his prior employment visa by 6 yrs, to challenge the denial of a NEW employment visa application.

Kethlege’s ruling for the illegal immigrant was too much even for the Clinton judge on the panel, who dissented.

Since I have zero influence on President Trump, I will keep praying that the Good Lord guides his selection well. It looks like the first Justice he picked was a winner.

I told him that I was looking for a nominee that would demonstrate a respect for precedent, (Susan) Collins said on ABC. Whether or not they respect precedent will tell a lot about whether or not they would overturn Roe vs. Wade.

I think that is a myopic approach to the issue. If the Left can carp continuously moment by moment about doing away with the Second Amendment of the U. S. Constitution, we should be able to revisit former SCOTUS rulings we have a problem with.

Roe vs Wade would be one such issue.

And Susan I don't share you willingness to help kill millions of humans each year. When you look at the disproportionate numbers that are members of a minority, it amounts to little less than a planned focused genocide to keep numbers down. How can you buy into that? There's two very good issues that should make you re-think your opinion.

If you go back and look at Sanger's statements, it's clear her emphasis of her vision came to fruition. (fewer people of certain races) Isn't it about time we revise that? Further info here...

I distrust Republican women when they get to DC. Does Barrett have enough of a track record established on the issues most important to us to be sure she’s a true conservative? Also, someone pointed out that when Ginsburg leaves one way or another the push will be on to choose a female. That might be a better time for Barrett or another principled female to be nominated. She wouldn’t have pressure from all three of the females currently on the SC then.

For years we have had a 4.5/4.5 Supreme Court with Anthony Kennedy.

I am hoping Trump breaks with tradition and nominates a true conservative so we have definitive 5-4 Supreme Court.

There is no Constitutional reason for the Supreme Court to mirror the 50/50 split in the population.

Trump campaign stance on abortion...

Abortion and same-sex marriage

Trump describes himself as pro-life and generally opposes abortion with some exceptions: rape, incest, and circumstances endangering the health of the mother.[338] He has said that he is committed to appointing justices who may overturn the ruling in Roe v. Wade. Sourced here...

From October of 2016.

This disclaimer does appear at the site, but is more or less Yada Yada Yade Left wing media Pap.

Trump's political positions, and his descriptions of his beliefs, have frequently changed.[19] Politico has described his positions as "eclectic, improvisational and often contradictory."According to an NBC News count, over the course of his campaign Trump made "141 distinct shifts on 23 major issues."Fact-checking organizations reported that during the campaign, Trump made a record number of false statements compared to other candidates, a pattern that continued once in office.

Trump did not walk away from his platform. He didn't change anything in it from the Escalator Announcement on, as far as I know.

She has made a number of public statements. So far they are looking pretty good.

She is a strong supporter of the Constitution, and a person who approves of revisiting cases.

Those are two pretty good traits.

There may be more.

She does have statements out there expressing her beliefs.

I note the Left is trashing her based on her religion. That should tell us she’s not all that bad if that’s where they have to go to rip her.

They know she isn’t one of them.

She is a strong defender of the Constitution.

She is in favor of judicial review of past SCOTUS decisions.

I’m not against all that you posted. There is some reason in it.

Ann Coulter thought Myth Romney was the bees knees.

Her judgment is questionable, she dated Bill Marr.

Bottom line whether you like coulter or not

Immigration is one of the most important issues and one of the main reason Trump beat the rest of the GOP.

We have to have a judge who is genuinely conservative on immigration.

I've favored Amy Coney Barrett from the start and said so right here and stated my reasons. Dianne Feinstein despises her and ditto for Durbin because she is "too Catholic."

I remembered her from her hearings in 2017 and the nasty grilling AlFranken gave her but she gave it right back to him. I've found one clip on you tube to give y'all a taste of it. Mercifully, that a$$hole is no longer in the Senate.

She was born in New Orleans in 1972, she is married and she and her husband have 7 children! Five biological, two adopted from Haiti.

She clerked for Justice Scalia.
