Ann Coulter Slams ‘Open Borders Zealots’ on Trump’s SCOTUS Shortlist, Backs Kavanaugh
Breitbart ^

Posted on 07/04/2018 1:49:49 PM PDT by springwater13

Ann Coulter unloaded on Judge Raymond Kethledge, one of the judges President Donald Trump interviewed to potentially replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, on Twitter Wednesday.

“Hardiman & Kethledge are open borders zealots,” the New York Times best-selling author and populist conservative columnist said in the most explosive of her tweets.

The tweet followed one in which she chastised those on the right pushing for Kethledge, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, as repeating the mistakes of the past that led to Republican administrations nominating judges, such as Justice David Souter, who became massive disappointments to conservatives.

Coulter, a University of Michigan Law School grad, threw her weight behind Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the D.C. Circuit, comparing his record on immigration, the issue on which Coulter most closely focuses, to the other reported candidates. She also pointed to Kavanaugh’s strength on the Second Amendment.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who has emerged as a conservative favorite in the nomination process, was also featured in Coulter’s analysis. Coulter did not explicitly attack Barrett, but explained her preference for Kavanugh by pointing to Barrett’s relative lack of experience. Barrett has only been a judge for seven months and has never ruled on a wide variety of issues. Coulter saw her as a potential “blank slate” and warned against nominating anyone on the basis of being a woman.

Looks like Kavanaugh may be strongest on immigration and maybe foremost in Trump's mind right now the Mueller/Russia probe which will probably go to the Supreme Court if Trump refuses to meet with Mueller and is subpoenaed as is likely.

Kavanaugh has argued that sitting Presidents should not be subject to depositions in criminal investigations until after their terms are over.

I’m liking Amy Comey Barrett a lot. What’s her take on the border issues?

She’s in favor of reviewing past decisions like Roe vs Wade. That’s why the Leftists hate here.

Isn’t it a hoot that they want to do away with the Second Amendment altogether, but don’t want to review past decisions at all.

Hypocrisy must have a picture of the Democrat party in Websters by now.

Kavanaugh helped the Clintons cover up the murder of Vince Foster. How many people lost their lives over the years because the Clintons were enabled past the point of murdering the inconvenient??? And you (Coulter?) want this guy on the Supreme Court?

Long read but very telling about Kavanaugh.

Mostly, the only criticisms people have is she’s a woman and does’t have a lot of judicial experience (was a professor before appointed to Appeals Court last year). They are afraid she will become a Souter.

Some appointments:

D.C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who was appointed by President George W. Bush;

Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals who Mr. Trump nominated last year;

Judge Thomas Hardiman of the 3rd Circuit who was nominated by President George W. Bush

“Kavanaugh has argued that sitting Presidents should not be subject to depositions in criminal investigations until after their terms are over.”

He was the same judge on the Vince Foster—Hillary Arkancide case with Vince Foster. I dont trust him..

Coulter, ... , threw her weight behind Judge Brett Kavanaugh ...

I didn’t know she had such political weight to throw around.

Good for Ann Coulter. She had continued to speak out, has made excellent comments. This doesn't mean that I always agree with her. There is nobody I always agree with. And for speaking out, she has been harassed by the left.

Some (not all) of the negative comments and personal bashing of FR makes me wonder about the real agenda of these individuals.

Kavanaugh is probably the strongest although he has dirty laundry with regard to the Vince Foster investigation.

Barrett is too inexperienced. It's like trying to handicap a two-year old maiden at the race track. Could be good, could be a bust. My gut instinct is that she is soft on border issues.

I know Willett spoke out against the wall and Trump.

Kavanaugh is the guy who supposedly worked on the Vince Foster cover up. Some guy who was an incidental witness in the park apparently got harassed by him.

I didn’t like Hardiman, but it is disappointing to hear the other guy is similarly infected.

The first one the President picks will go away as a destruction campaign from the moonbat left.

Pay attention to this. The second will go through and remember the campaign of President Trump.

He did not campaign on RvsW. He campaigned on that border.

Let the left go off in the weeds.

I thought SC Justices were supposed to put politics behind them and let the Constitution be their guide, no? Therefore what a candidates’ personal view on the illegals for example should be irrelevant.

On the other hand we know the Wise Latina and Kagan the Pagan are political to the point of being activist judges, and Ginsberg as well. It pains them that dead white Europeans wrote that fabulous document guaranteeing life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Still, the only relevant factor should be the original intent of the Constitution, it seems to me.

Stare decisis addresses reviewing past SCOTUS rulings.

I'm not an expert in these matters, but this seems to be accurate from what I've read. This was Amy Coney Barrett's comment on it.

Stare decisis is not a hard-and-fast rule in the court’s constitutional cases, Barrett wrote in a 2013 law review article. She added, there is little reason to think reversals would do it great damage, referring to the court’s reputation. I tend to agree with those who say that a justice’s duty is to the Constitution and that is thus more legitimate for her to enforce her best understanding of the Constitution rather than a precedent she thinks is clearly in conflict with it.

Sourced from here...

That's a little surprising, since it's the Los Angeles Times
