By us, we mean not just journalists — but all Americans. For the foundation of our country depends on a free press able to probe and report without fear of retribution.

Remember the various members of the TV press openly saying that if they had impending knowledge of an enemy attack on our troops, they wouldn't pass it on? Wouldn't be, you know, "objective".
I wouldn't mind too terribly much, if a bunch of people showed up with cameras at the reporters' funerals, and shoved microphones into everyone's face, asking how they FELT about it, and if they felt guilty at all for driving a poor unstable guy over the brink ("we must UNDERSTAND the anger") is the catch-phrase when a member of a preferred victim group TM goes apesh*t on bystanders.
