Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson kicked Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family out of her restaurant because she works for President Donald J. Trump. We've seen the news on this, the posts on Yelp, Facebook, etc. Well, there is more. Stehpanie Wilkinson is Executive Director of Main Street Lexington, which strives to promote business in downtown Lexington, Virginia. This is Rockbridge count, which voted 62.4% for Trump! I think we need to bring Wilkinson's bigotry to the attention of the bigger community and see if they back her or Trump.
Main Street Lexington needs emails and phone calls to hear our displeasure:
My message: "Are all organizations as bigoted as Red Hen? Should we boycott just them or the whole downtown and city of Lexington?"
And more! Go through their pages and reach out to her membership and neighbors. Are they all bigoted and do they support her? A quick glance at pages shows the following sponsors, partners, and members that should be contacted:
Got a few minutes, send them a polite email asking if they agree and support and appreciate the affiliation with Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson. Should we boycott them as well?
i think there is a big difference between a religious conviction and being asked to do something that supports something that religion says is wrong and denying someone service because of where they work or their political opinions.
The SC ruling was only about religious beliefs
But I also think there is a bigger point to be made here about freedom and limitations on same.
Whose freedom?
i see this as a similar issue to jews being denied services in Germany. The intolerance of the left.

Great post! You point out the hypocrisy and why the rights typical milquetoast responses are so lame. Its time to get mad, IMO!
We escaped mexifornia to East Tennessee. Virginia and North Carolina by the appalachians were also options, but those 2 states were trending purple. We didnt want to get caught in the same situation we were in in Kern county, CA-being outvoted by the big liberal cities.
Liberals are so tolerant.
This carpetbagger from NY still does not have a clue
what is coming her way.
Don’t think this will end well for her and her business.
Lexington isn’t NY.
Wow, had no idea that Lexington is the home of Virginia Military Institute. What has America become?
Also, Washington and Lee.
Lee’s Horse Traveler is buried there.
If that New York bitch is allowed to live there she will be plotting to have the grave dug up aand moved.

This business and its owner ought to be due for a detailed IRS audit about now too.

Restaurants: Right to Refuse Service
Do Restaurants Have the Unrestricted Right to Refuse Service?
No. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 explicitly prohibits restaurants from refusing service to patrons on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin. In addition, most courts dont allow restaurants to refuse service to patrons based on extremely arbitrary conditions. For example, a person likely cant be refused service due to having a lazy eye.
But Arent Restaurants Considered Private Property?
Yes, however they are also considered places of public accommodation. In other words, the primary purpose of a restaurant is to sell food to the general public, which necessarily requires susceptibility to equal protection laws. Therefore, a restaurants existence as private property does not excuse an unjustified refusal of service. This can be contrasted to a nightclub, which usually caters itself to a specific group of clientele based on age and social status.
So Are Right to Refuse Service to Anyone Signs in Restaurants Legal?
Yes, however they still do not give a restaurant the power to refuse service on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin. These signs also do not preclude a court from finding other arbitrary refusals of service to be discriminatory. Simply put, restaurants that carry a Right to Refuse Service sign are subject to the same laws as restaurants without one.
What Conditions Allow a Restaurant to Refuse Service?
There a number of legitimate reasons for a restaurant to refuse service, some of which include:
Patrons who are unreasonably rowdy or causing trouble
Patrons that may overfill capacity if let in
Patrons who come in just before closing time or when the kitchen is closed
Patrons accompanied by large groups of non-customers looking to sit in
Patrons lacking adequate hygiene (e.g. excess dirt, extreme body odor, etc.)
In most cases, refusal of service is warranted where a customers presence in the restaurant detracts from the safety, welfare, and well-being of other patrons and the restaurant itself.
The baker did not refuse to bake cakes “for queers” (your words, not mine). The baker had both gay and straight customers. He objected on religious grounds to making a wedding cake for a same sex couple. The US Supreme Court concluded that Colorado was hostile to the baker’s religious beliefs in fining him for the refusal. The same people who thought the baker had to make the cake, regardless of his religious beliefs, are now saying that simply because Wilkinson hates the President it is okay for her to refuse service to a customer who works for him. Does that mean stores must post signs limiting services to only those who espouse a particular political philosophy? Does that mean a customer who gets seated and then has a political conversation while dining can be expelled if the waiter doesn’t like what he or she hears while delivering the food? I hope that is not where we are headed as a country.
Lexington voted for Clinton while the county voted for Trump.
The locals will support her much more than us out-of-towners will boycott her. I wasn’t planning to eat there in the first place, so it’s hard for me to boycott a place I wasn’t going to in the first place.
She will thrive unless the party that has standing sues her for violating federal anti-discrimination law (like the homos do to bakeries for their ginned up grievances). But don’t count on Sanders suing.
Liz, this might help: (seen this on Lame Cherry this morning) don’t always agree with Lame Cherry, but on this one I do:
Broadview Ranch Lexington, VA
Buffalo Creek Beef Lexington, VA
Donalds Meats Lexington, VA
Foggy Ridge Cider Dugspur, VA
Harvest Thyme Herbs Staunton, VA
Mountain View Farm Fairfield, VA
Seafood @ West Main Charlottesville, VA
Wades Mill Raphine, VA
Time for us to boycott Lexington, until she is removed. Most of Main Street looks like Yuppieville.
With 63% of the county voting for Trump, the small number in the city limits that supported Clinton is small indeed and a guess at best. I looked yesterday and could find not vote tallies at the more detailed level.
