Word of the Trump administration’s new “zero tolerance” policy, which calls for prosecuting everyone who crosses the border illegally, has been traveling along the migrant trail that winds through Mexico and Central America. People learn of it by television, by social media and, mostly, by word of mouth.
While the policy has stirred controversy in the United States, with lawmakers from both parties calling for its end in the face of defiance from the Trump administration, it has sowed confusion for the migrants bound for the United States, who are struggling to make sense of what it means for the rest of their journey.
Some, like Ms. Flores, are now considering staying in Mexico.
Some are pausing their trips to see if the separation policy is reversed; on Tuesday evening, Republican senators in Washington moved to try to defuse the crisis and find a way to end the policy.
Others are weighing the risks of an illegal crossing against the chances of success with an asylum petition.

Until the announcement of the zero tolerance policy, and under previous administrations, adults traveling with their minor children were generally exempted from criminal prosecutions.
This was a well-known policy throughout Mexico and Central America, and was often part of the calculus for migrants: Those traveling with their children knew that if they were detained and put into deportation proceedings, they would most likely be released quickly, sometimes with an ankle monitor, to await their day in court.
That was what Ms. Flores understood, until she was told of the new approach.
“I had thought that if a mother like me had gone to the border with a child, I’d be allowed to leave detention,” she said

I read an article today at CNN, that convinced me even more that most of this is staged hysteria to a) distract from the IG report/fallout and b) create a ‘forthechildren!’ midterm issue.
Bearing in mind that there are communists posing as ‘compassionate volunteers’ working on the Mexican side of the border directly with those intending to jump the border, what a former worker had to say about the children coming into the centers perked my ears.
Are the parents being coached to intentionally mentally abuse their children (not coach them on the process) so as to create more chaos in the centers?:
“Previously, the children coming in to the shelter were better behaved and relatively calm, Davidson said. Overall, these children had been prepared for the journey and knew that they would spend some time in a shelter and then would be reunited with their parents, he explained.

“Over the past six weeks, they’ve been seeing more and more kids who weren’t prepared for the situation, that were basically lifted from their parents’ arms,” Davidson said. “And as such, they were running around and crying for their mother and basically generally displaying signs of trauma, as any child would who doesn’t know where they are or where their parent is.”

The last time I listened to Hannity on the way home from work, he had Jerry Rivers on and the sucking-up was so over-the-top that I left it on for entertainment purposes until the novelty wore off.

The Sea People were undoubtedly coming from what we’d call crap-hole places or they’d have stayed there. Wherever they went, they destroyed whatever was there. Imagine bringing over a million Somalis and dumping them someplace. Rapidly, the civilization that was there would be replaced by the only model the Somalis knew, which was just as bad and oppressive as what they left. When people move from a less civilized place to a more civilized place the place they arrive at suffers.
I think it took roughly 1,000 years to recover from the mass migration that ended the Bronze Age.

It is imperative that the border “process” be restored to order, not a semblance of order. Right now it is chaotic. Immigration is an orderly, vetted process. The citizenry expects safety measures to be restored.

Hannity is horrible with the interruptions of people that I really want to hear what they have to say. He doesn’t listen to his guests, just tries to talk the whole time.
A well designed wall would have prevented this problem from happening.
And his shows are 80% advertising.
