CBS This Morning gave generally fair coverage today to yesterdays shooting at an Oklahoma City restaurant in which an armed citizen shot and killed the assailant.
But CBS couldnt help but let the MSMs fixation on gun control creep in. At the end of the segment, the CBS reporter on the scene, David Begnaud, said:
We asked the police if that armed civilian had a permit to carry his weapon, and they told us they didnt know but they were looking into it.

“I used to really like watching NCIS”
I love that show. It’s so realistic.
The "reporter" becomes a journalist and checks the laws himself? Or has his "news organization" do it for him?
The victims father said he wants to "hug" him. Says he's a hero (he is)
I couldn't stand Pauley Perrette's character ever, but they achieved the impossible and made her ever worse. (BTW apparently Perrette is just as big a dipsh!t in reality as her character is on the show) Their constant referring to whether guns were "registered" got on my nerves, and like you I stopped watching it.
“Oklahoma has Constitutional Carry; no permit required....”
Sorry, as has already been stated multiple times earlier in the thread, the governor vetoed the recently passed legislation. Some legislators are trying to get the Legislature back into session to override the veto but it looks doubtful.
Then why did I just have to renew my concealed handgun license?
Since he was not conceal carrying (he went to his car to retrieve the gun) this question depends on how he was carrying in his car.
They should resubmit and see if she vetoes it again. It might be a bit more difficult this time.
Oklahoma recently passed a bill to allow carry without a permit.

Needs to be passed in all states.

You don’t think asking the Police Chief qualifies as research?
The question wasn’t about the law, it was about the status of the citizen in the eyes of the police.
Who else would the news organization ask?
Then why did I just have to renew my concealed handgun license?
Because you dont live in Maine, NH or Vermont.
It's the timing of the question in the report. The media can't wait to poke holes in a pro-armed citizen story so this is the first question they have, investigate the hero. I think I could wait until the police announce their summary as it's their prerogative.
Yep.... I live here in OKC. They will not prosecute this guy. He is being called a hero. Also, I posted a live thread last night when this was breaking on the news. I'm personally surprised there wasn't more return fire than just the one guy.
My does he look foolish now.

My does she look foolish now.....corrected for ya!
yep!
Maybe. What if it was a pro-2nd Amendment organization like Breitbart who knew the OK laws and knew that in all likelihood everything was legal.
You don't think it helps the "good guy with a gun" narrative to have the police state that it was, indeed, a good guy?
I'm in favor of as many facts as we can get.
Just when you think they cant get any stupider. . .
