Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer.
The operation, first reported on Twitter by KLAS-TV journalist George Knapp and confirmed by a source close to the powerful former lawmaker, took place Monday morning.
They caught it early. The doctors believe it went well, and he is expected to make a full recovery, the source told The Nevada Independent.
Reid, 78, served for 30 years in the Senate before retiring following a debilitating eye injury. He was succeeded by Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.
Along with Republican former House Speaker John Boehner, Reid is co-chair of the nascent MGM Resorts International Public Policy Institute at UNLV.

Say Goodnight Harry...
I don’t think he has the “staying power” of Steve Jobs.
Pancreatic cancer can be a swift killer. Maybe medical treatments have improved recently. I don’t know. But it is one of the most deadly cancer.
——He is more honorable than McCain.——
That might be a stretch...
Thats like saying which is more dangerous: a rattler or a viper...
When I think Reid and McCain I think Hebrews 9:27.
Fixed it.
Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most deadliest forms of cancer.
Because your Pancreas is so deep into your body, it is difficult to treat.
Survival rate is somewhere around 15% past two years. But usually it is very quick.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly and rapidly so......................
That was my first thought. Is this real or not.
Prayers up! Ok, I was just kidding.
It was reportedly his brother.................
Die horribly from sepsis you putrid enemy of America.
And who was one of those to survive? The lovely Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Hope Dr. Bundy is doing the procedure...
Not going to comment, except for this post.

Thank goodness he has obamacare, they were able to catch this quickly. I know obamacare would do the same thing for me. Do I really need the sarc tag?
I did not like his philosophy but if we could choose up sides after the election like on a playground...well over the last 20 years I would have picked Harry pretty early on. He ran his bunch like nothing I have ever seen.
Reid is truly one of the most evil, underhanded pieces of sh*t ever to hold office in the US.
And I’ll leave it at that.
That would be the Whipple procedure (Pancreaticoduodenectomy).
Recovery is slow and very uncomfortable. The “caught it early” is a merely balm to the patient and family as pancreatic cancer is what it is. Likely followed by a low impact chemo and radiation regimen.
Never was a ‘dingey harry’ fan, but having seen the procedure on a loved one, wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
YMMV
