Update: Austin-based Yeti says claims made by the National Rifle Association over the weekend are inaccurate and that the company is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment.
In an email to its members, the NRA claimed Yeti suddenly, without prior notice indicated it no longer wished to do business with the NRA Foundation.
Not so, says Yeti. The maker of coolers and thermal mugs says the NRA has twisted its words.
A few weeks ago, Yeti notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs, Yeti said in a written statement Monday afternoon. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations about this change, Yeti explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the (NRA) distributed on April 20.

The Seider brothers who are Gen X rural Texans who founded Yeti and own the bulk of the stock are avid hunters and anglers and are on record in the past supporting gun rights
When I first saw this I wrote them a scathing email which I posted here now Im not sure
Heres what I wrote them a few days back:
Im very disapppointed in your decision regarding the NRA
I OWN SEVEN OF YOUR COLSTERS
ONE OF YOUR 8 PACK HOPPERS
TWO RAMBLERS
AND A LARGE ROADIE
PLUS APPAREL STUFF MY FIVE KIDS PICK UP FROM TIME TO TIME
do you know your market, I dont think so
Leftists rarely buy your stuff except maybe some old growth weepers from time to time
Go on any big sports fisherman or a deer camp or road crew with a budget
Thats your market and it aint San Francisco
The left wants to ban guns because it fears those of us with them because as long as were armed we can resist their mindless attempts to impose their politically correct will on us
And you just chose sides
And its not the side that buys your rather pricey but well made product
So Im out....youre not the only choice
No balls
I mean if Fed Ex and the Pillow Man can hang tough why cant you?
Austin Texas which I visited two weeks ago is lovely but its not America ...not by a long shot

They need to really jump on this
Great response. Thank you!
Hmm, is Austin-based YETI feeling the heat?
Maybe being based in Austin has skewed their perspective.
Austin,...what can you say? On the other hand, what is the truth here?
It sounds like Yeti’s lame response amounts to, “We’re happy to have the NRA buy our stuff like any other customer”. The NRA did not misrepresent anything.
Wow. That’s about $10k worth of overpriced coolers!
,
BS is BS!
.
Good letter!
Yep.
Exactly what other organizations?
And what do they mean by outdated?
Sounds like somebody at the NRA screwed up. It happens.
Or Yeti is lying but that seems less likely.
.
>> “what is the truth here?” <<
Not to be found in Austin! Berzerkley, TX.
.
Sounds like lame response to incoming emails from lost NRA member customers.
I was watching Grant Stinchfield’s show on NRA TV last night, and sure enough on the side side of his desk was that Yeti mug.
I disagree
It sounds like the NRA is hypersensitive and understandably considering
Yeti needs to fix this regardless
That will tell if they are lame or not
Diet Dr Pepper and I have five kids
Im about alcohol like many here are about weed
I detest it
Ive lived with how it destroys many
No offense
Unless they’re giving some kind of new discount to NRA members or some other way to discount legal firearms owners I’ll still not patronize them. If they care so much about the outdoors, hunting, fishing and the things they say they do, why eliminate a discount for them?
My opinion of this dust up is completely free of any inside information or knowledge of facts bearing on the case. I think that either the promotions manager or the Yeti account manager got off the reservation and took an action that matches his/her Austin background ideas. Then the CEO pulled into the parking lot and discovered a really big dumpster fire.
This smells like a rapid 180 degree turn and a major damage control operation.
That was excellent!
