Veteran. US Navy.
That is the story.
Not the pilot’s plumbing.

"Nobody called him male pilot."The name implies gender. One airline who had a female deck crew announced over the PA that this flight is an "un-maned" flight which brought on some concern by passengers.

Maybe she would prefer “pilotess”. Sounds a bit dated, just sayin’...

I agree.
The USAF prime rule for any emergency was:
“Maintain aircraft control
Analyze the situation and take proper action.
Land as soon as conditions permit.”
I am sure the Navy’s direction was essentially the same.
That pilot did what she was trained to do.
He or she had to in order to get the wings.

Sometimes I don’t get women. This pilot is a hero. She broke ground with her military career and took it to a commercial career where she possibly saved many lives. To point out that she’s a woman only gives young women and girls growing up someone to emulate and model themselves after. Pointing out her gender recognizes her feats and firsts and memorializes it.

Frankly, my dear, nobody gives a damn.
The endless self-righteousness of these prigs compares most unfavorably to anyone, anywhere, who has to execute correctly under stress.
To: Kaslin
And I was surprised that anyone thought the pilot was a hero for being able to land with only one engine. Maybe there was more damage that affected the airworthiness of the plane that I am unaware of, but landing with one engine from 30,000 feet is no big deal.

If they hadn’t identified her as female, the grievance mongers would have complained that they were trying to avoid giving a woman her due.

Is “male nurse” still ok?
Why do I believe the leftist freaks would STILL be reporting on our “female president” if the Fraud’s Felons had been successful?

It sounds like she did her job just like she was supposed to. Good job.
I think they made too much of Sully but still landing one in the river is not quite the same as landing on one engine at the airport.

In my opinion, the mention of the *female* pilot was meant to inspire women to become pilots. Just like with the move to get women into more STEM jobs, they want to show girls that there are women role models in aviation, too.
That's why they called out that the hero pilot on this flight was a woman, rather than let it go by unnoticed.
