While the national debate continues on whether school teachers should be allowed to posses firearms in classrooms, one Pennsylvania school district is moving forward with arming its teachers... with baseball bats.
The Millcreek School District, which is located near Erie, announced it is arming up to 500 teachers with baseball bats in case of an active shooter, WICU-TV reported. The district said it spent $1,800 on the 16-inch wooden bats.
The bats are not quite the same size used in baseball games. Typical baseball bats are at least 30 inches long.

Well this is interesting. Thats where my daughter goes to school, and no one told THIS parent about it. I guess a call to her middle school is in order...
” I think it is a false feeling of security!”
You miss the point, it’s “symbolic”.
This is basically an invitation for the teacher to commit suicide.
Why the **** are they so afraid of guns???
A 16 bat is called a batton. It hurts, but doesnt break bones or cave a skull. Its WORSE than nothing, its a false sense of security that will get a teacher killed. Bit an armed person with a batton and you have bought a few seconds for your life sacrifice.
A sidearm is permanent and a regular baseball bat is at least lethal
Fire extinguishers, buckets of rocks, promo baseball bats.
This is what it looks like when the establishment wants to create the perception of doing something, but is actually doing next to nothing.
Maybe the teachers could just pee on the shooters./s
I mean, that is what they want rape victims to do instead of being able to defend themselves.
It's about security at the door....
Remember, at Parkland, they were watching the kid on the video and he was already long gone. He should have never been able to get in the door....with a long gun besides.
This happened because of the policies of the schools and LE.
Guns are evil. Can not use guns to prevent evil.
They might as well give them water pistols to fend off the shooter.
Idiots writing article titles? Yep. It is not a baseball bat, it is a wooden night stick. Like English Bobby's carried? Headshake. I have a similar item that was given to me by a representative for O.P. Link handle company as an advertising piece. My wife still has it tucked away somewhere. It has no handle strap and certainly is not threatening.

It is also noted that PayPal is run by idiots too.
Guns that shoot rubber bullets and a protective shield would be better.
Because we wouldn’t want to seriously hurt the person killing people.
Multiple batters against an armed idiot? It could work.
I would submit that the NEA kills 100% more kids.. mostly because they will not seriously protect the children..than the NRA.
Stop killing our children NEA!
If you read my profile you will see I taught CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSES FOR COLLEGE CREDIT in past.
There is nothing symbolic about life and death, where students are concerned. The Democrats who do push gun control are not in line of fire.
Since 1990, there has been way too many deaths in school shootings:

Until we demand and get real safety for our children, grandchildren, and others children...we should NOT be accepting any symbolic nonsense!
Well, not even a normal baseball bat. Just a toy version.
But, hey, “they” were doing something to protect the children.
Or something.
The outlook wasn’t brilliant for the Mudville Nine that day;
the score stood 4 to 2, with but one inning left to play.
“16 bats?”
They’re those little commemorative MLB stadium bats.
