Conservatives fume after Sessions declines to appoint new special counsel

Conservative are boiling with anger at Attorney General Jeff Sessions for declining to appoint a second special counsel to investigate alleged abuses at the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ).

In a Thursday letter to senior GOP lawmakers in the House and Senate, Sessions explained that he had appointed John Huber, a U.S. attorney from Utah who was first appointed by former President Obama, to work with DOJ’s inspector general to determine whether a second special counsel is necessary.

While Sessions says he will accept Huber’s recommendation on whether to appoint a second special counsel, the attorney general set a high bar for an independent investigation, saying it would require “extraordinary circumstances.”

Conservatives are apoplectic, believing there is more than enough evidence of wrongdoing at the FBI and widespread conflicts of interest within the DOJ to justify an outside prosecutor.

He's running around selling books, tweaking Trump's nose. Why hasn't he been arrested for it?

Because that's how it works. As you may have noticed, Hilary got a really sweet book deal too. McCabe was too minor to rate a book deal, so instead he got a go-fund-me to help him trash Trump. If he does a good job trashing Trump he might get a book deal too.

Mueller's efforts are getting weaker and weaker and further and further from the White House.

What I have noticed is that apart from Flynn, Mueller has prosecuted disposable losers who deserve their prosecution. Flynn is an exception and I'm pretty sure that he will get some kind of reprieve down the road.

He’s also nailed them all on Valerie Plame scandal, Petraeus-scandal *process* crimes. ALL smoke and mirrors, and bluff.

It’s a list of Mueller’s indictments you ignorant wretch. I cited the source.

I never knew that there were that many mentally ill people posting on FR. Along with EEE, you definitely belong at the top of the Freeper mental defective league list.

Insults will not save you. Mueller's indictments are process crimes, or for matters unrelated to the Trump campaign. He had the (heh) "dossier" which led right to the Deep State conspiracy against Trump.

He's got nothing, and neither do you.

Yeah, it’s kind of silly to clamor for a second special counsel to generate process crimes for “our side”. Much better to focus on MAGA, but spend some effort on reforms such as might be recommended by the OIG. I’m not holding out hope for a lot of reform, but some will be better than nothing for DOJ/FBI. For the broader ability of the government to spy on Americans generally and opposition political candidates in particular, that has to be fixed by Congress. At some point, they might get around to it.

The point is he’s got a lot more indictments than your jerk-off poster boy Jeff Sessions...Btw, why hasn’t your boy unrecused himself and put an end to mueller’s coup?

Rosenstein is a white hat. Watch and learn. The truth is coming out in April.

Dan Bongino subbed for Mark Levin yesterday and had some very convincing arguments as to what’s going on behind the scenes with Sessions, the IG, and the federal prosecutor Huber working this case. He was very compelling.

I’m still not convinced, but I’m beginning to wobble.

Something’s going on...

You keep telling yourself that, sparky. Must be frustrating when you thought you had Trump on the ropes with the Dossier and all.
I think Mueller is a piss-poor prosecutor. “Piss-poor” get it?
Or maybe pour cause he couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. Oh well, maybe Stormy the Stripper will save you.

It's not good in general to lose freepers. But I make an exception for myself. Here, like everywhere else, I am pretty much expendible. Also I'm just one person so who cares. But couple of freepers were lost because they invested way too much of their effort into "proving" that a certain document was a forgery. Polarik was one, I don't rememeber any others.

But they were demonstrably, painfully and pathetically wrong. And I was right. But who cares. Only people like you apparently.

“>>You keep waiting for the “truth” to come out in December, January, March, “April” or “May”.

I think it started being in March with the OIG report due.”

It takes time to sanitize the report and remove all incriminating facts to the greatest extent possible.

Nope. I definitely remember having to wait until January, and I believe there was one month before that”

My recollection/first awareness was that by the end of January.

What you, EG, FR and a few others seemingly continually ignore is that Sessions doesn't represent the crux. Rather, the honor of that position falls to Trump.

Everyone can see each position on the board. Patriots, enemies of the people, curious bystanders; it's clear to all.

So, the essential question is: why can't Trump get out of the box? And please, we don't need another explanation of the political alliances nor bureaucratic mechanics.

I'm talking about the MIC. I'm actually in agreement with EG: I think the coup needs a forceful and direct response. So, where is it? Speculative answer - Trump doesn't have (full) support of the military.

Conclusion: Trump isn't acting because the MIC has already made their choice. For whatever reason(s), their assessment of his character and leadership capabilities has resulted in being non-committal. Therefore, Trump is forced to allow the swamp to process the outcome on their terms.

“We don’t need a new special counsel right now; what we need is to limit the investigations:”

We don’t need...

Then why are the Republicans who have the evidence laid out across their desk furious with Sessions for not appointing a special counsel?

Some of the people on this site who are apparently prepared to die for Sessions’ dereliction of duty should carry their asses up to Capitol Hill and submit their superior evidence to Jim Jordan, to comfort him. Then they can drop by the Oval Office and do the same thing for Trump.

Rosentein appointed a Mueller to go after Trump with absolutely no evidence, and Sessions routinely praises the Mueller and his investigation.

The EVIDENCE of Justice Department corruption mounts up to the ceiling and Sessions can’t see the need for a special counsel?

The fact that FISA warrants were issued based on DNC produced lies, all by itself, would justify a special prosecutor.

And I still can’t believe that everyone relegates that stupendous chicanery to just a mere factoid in all the associated events, and that merely noting that it occurred satisfies the requirement for action.
