In Oregon, a new initiative from a religious group is taking it a step forward. They want to ban any semiautomatic rifle with a detachable magazine, and that can hold more than ten rounds. They also want current owners of these firearms, law-abiding Americans, to take them out of the state, register them, sell it to a FFL dealer, destroy it, or turn them over. That’s right, folks—full-blown gun confiscation. Right now, the anti-gun church group is collecting signatures. The hope is that they fall short (via KGW8):

“Young people in this country are crying out. This is the moment in time where we need to step alongside them as adults and do our part with them,” said Pastor Mark Knutson of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Portland.
While a person must be at least 18 to vote, even a 14-year-old can go out and seek signatures, Knutson told The Associated Press over the phone.
“This is going to be a youth campaign,” said Knutson, who will be one of the three chief petitioners of the ballot measure.
Rev. Alcena Boozer, a former high school principal and pastor emeritus of St. Philip the Deacon Episcopal Church; and Rabbi Michael Cahana, of Congregation Beth Israel, are the other two chief petitioners. The treasurer is Imam Muhammad Najieb, director of the Muslim Community Center of Portland and a Marine veteran.

These good Christians have learned they don’t need guns in Iraq, Iran, Venezuela, Syria, and other nice peaceful places in the world. They learned this from the Jews before WW2 who found a nice peaceful existence in the death camps.

4-19-2005...day I swore to uphold the constitution of the US and State of Washington as a Police Officer.
The significance of those dates were not lost on me as I shook the then Chief’s hand and swore my oath of office.
That my swear in date fell on the anniversary of those two events is always a reminder of the significance of what I do at work each day and that I should fulfill my oath to the Constitution.
(No I do not think the OKC bombing is same as Lexington and Concord and I am not a supporter of that terrorist act...just to be clear)

The Brady Bunch pulled this publicity stunt back in the early 1990s. They found rifles die hard! they had to keep going over, and over, and over.
More than 80% of the land in Oregon is rural & lrge ranches.
Tell those cattle & horse & livestock owners that they cannot have a rifle to shoot coyotes & wolves who are taking/harassing their livestock. Tell them face to face & be prepared for pushback.

Psst- similar bill “NY safe act” passed in NY and was challenged but allowed by the courts there
To wit:
They declare intent to threaten violence upon peaceful innocents for possessing an object owned for the purpose of stopping those who threaten violence.
If this ever passed into law in Oregon, this is Supreme Court case waiting to happen.
Who knows the outcome?
But I don't think the higher court would agree to "infringing" on the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
I would be alive only one month after such legislation passed, and a lot of the authors and sponsors would join me.

Really just around I-5 westward. The eastern 2/3rds of OR and WA are pretty conservative. The sad part is that city dwellers in Seattle, Olympia, Portland, Salem, Eugene, are the population centers. They determine what happened for the entire state(s) from their little liberal bubbles/sounding chamber. I other words it kinda sucks living here. These people truly are nuts.
If someone comes to take your gun just be sure to give them the bullets first.
