Trump's proposal to hold a pro-military parade has excited much heavy breathing and political posturing from Democrats.

To wit:

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.): "I think confidence is silent and insecurity is loud. America is the most powerful country in all of human history; you don’t need to show it off.”

Rep. Adam Smith (D-Calif.): “A military parade of this kind would also be a departure from the values of our constitutional democracy."

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.):"Because authoritarian regimes like Russia and North Korea hold massive military parades does not mean that we must as well."

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.): “President’s Trump’s desire to spend millions of taxpayer dollars on a military parade in the style of authoritarian leaders he admires would feed his ego and perhaps his base, rather than serve any legitimate purpose or keep with any long-held American traditions."

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.): [Comparing it to a Soviet May Day parade] This is "not an image that we much associate with the United States of America."

The MSM, of course, echoed the Democrats' concerns:

"Trump's Military Parade Draws Bipartisan Rebuke," reported Politico. The typically hysterical Washington Post, where democracy dies in darkness, reported as news, not commentary: "Military Parades Are About Ego and Power. Of Course Trump Wants One."

WPXI News lamented: "Trump Flirts With Flashy Military Parade Long Eschewed By US."

But the United States is no stranger to big, flashy military parades. As The Daily Wire pointed out, "public displays of military might, including tanks, missiles, and hundreds of thousands of troops occurred in 1919, 1942, 1946, 1953, 1957, 1961, and 1991."

I love our country. I have the highest respect for our military.

I think the idea of a huge military parade is stupid. I hated parades when I was 19. None of that has changed.

Marching is the best method to move a lot of people where you need them to be. It is not the best way to show off our strength to the world. How are you going to march the space warriors or cyber warriors? Are we going to roll padded chairs down the street with soldiers carrying keyboards?

Thank you for your service. I was in the AF. Was in Great Falls, Montana last year to visit our daughter (AF). We went the July 4th parade. I must say Malmstrom AFB contribution to the parade was the most incredible display I’ve ever seen. That huge transporter erector was a show stopper, especially with all the well-armed security services surrounding it.

I also like seeing the veteran groups marching as well.

to her that my family has been in the area for over
60 years and we don’t pretend to know the local “values”
so I am pretty sure she doesn’t know them either after

The liberal duplicity is par for the course, but as a supporter of a most effective military, which has been much diminished by anti-Christ political correctness (more dangerous than Communist arms), i actually agree "confidence is silent and insecurity is loud...you don’t need to show it off.”

I do not even like the constant updates on the latest military tech for all our enemies to see, and parades gives their hawks ammo to demand greater advances in tech and numbers. Better to let them think you are weak and ineffectual, to their latter surprise.

However, what is sad is the diminishing of veterans parades. Connecticut Parade Honoring Veterans Canceled Due to Cost ... if not all that is therein.
