House Intelligence memo released: What it says
Washington Examiner ^ | 2/2/18 | Byron York

Posted on 02/02/2018 8:52:17 AM PST by markomalley

The House Intelligence Committee has released its controversial memo outlining alleged abuses of secret surveillance by the FBI and Justice Department in the Trump-Russia investigation. Here are some key points:

* The Steele dossier formed an essential part of the intial and all three renewal FISA applications against Carter Page.

* Andrew McCabe confirmed that no FISA warrant would have been sought from the FISA Court without the Steele dossier information.

* The political origins of the Steele dossier were known to senior DOJ and FBI officials, but excluded from the FISA applications.

* DOJ official Bruce Ohr met with Steele beginning in the summer of 2016 and relayed to DOJ information about Steele's bias. Steele told Ohr that he, Steele, was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.

The FBI and Justice Department mounted a months-long effort to keep the information outlined in the memo out of the House Intelligence Committee's hands. Only the threat of contempt charges and other forms of pressure forced the FBI and Justice to give up the material.

Once Intelligence Committee leaders and staff compiled some of that information into the memo, the FBI and Justice Department, supported by Capitol Hill Democrats, mounted a ferocious campaign of opposition, saying release of the memo would endanger national security and the rule of law.

But Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes never wavered in his determination to make the information available to the public. President Trump agreed, and, as required by House rules, gave his approval for release.

Finally, the memo released today does not represent the sum total of what House investigators have learned in their review of the FBI and Justice Department Trump-Russia investigation. That means the fight over the memo could be replayed in the future when the Intelligence Committee decides to release more information.

This is way worse than Watergate.

Watergate was jay walking compared to this coup d’etat.

This is no less than a conspiracy to rig the election and failing that to overthrow the elected President of the United States.

The entire Democrat party, along with the DOJ and the FBI or in on it and let us not forget the role the main stream media has played in all this.

So is this big, yes this is big. Failing to clean up the mess means we have become a Banana Republic.

That we know of. Think what happened to Goldwater by the LBJ apparat-— put in place by the result of the JFK assasination by a communist for Cuba. The mind reels, even in that lower tech era.

Might say also— maybe this happened to Romney by obamaumao, and trump let him know (photo of drained looking romney leaving whitehouse).

Why was it not sourced in the request? And, if so, then, how was the application approved?

Good question!

Guess we'll find out. Listening to Rush now. This is so bad, it's childish. They all lied. It's incredible they even tried this. They are so done.

THE FBI PERPETRATED FRAUD UPON THE COURT. Comey needs to face legal consequences for he and his team’s action, AT A MINIMUM!

It is, indeed, way worse than Watergate, and the people here who want to brand the memo a “nothingburger” are blind fool’s. We now have documented proof from a legitimate source of a true silent coup attempt in the United States. It was carried out by the highest law enforcement and prosecutorial officials in our government, aided and abetted by completely corrupt media. We don’t yet have proof of direct connections to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, but the outline is there.

Way past time to fire everyone at the FBI ten layers down starting with Wray.

This means that all FISA obtained information is "fruit of the poison tree" and cannot legally be used. The Flynn conviction may be thrown out.

That's certainly a risk, isn't it?

Withholding that information from the Court to whom you are applying for a warrant is bad stuff. The FISA courts have tended to rubber stamp applications for warrants, but this is not good. I'd certainly expect some litigation on that point. If not from Flynn, then from anyone else who is indicted.

So exactly which sensitive sources and methods were exposed by this memo? I don’t see one. The IC needs to explain their objection to releasing this memo!!!

I don’t see how the key points can be made less-damaging to the rat-infested deep state by the inclusion of “additional information”.

Let’s see the “additional information”. Let’s see the rat-version in their rat-memo.

If those key points are correct (and it’s pretty easy to determine that), what the f* difference does it make what ELSE happened?

So who will be going to jail based on this?

As long as there is no Attorney General of the United States, no one.

Fill in the gaps...the FBI conspired to create a false basis for achieving a FISA warrant. They knew the documents and basis was a lie, they hid from the court that it was a lie, in order to get the warrant.

Why did they do this? Was it entirely of their own volition that they did this? Did they care that much?

Or did someone order them to do it...someone from the political realm...where all this material used originally came from?

One should add to this that Comey testified to Congress last summer that the FBI had not vetted the Trump dossier.

Link that to the memo information and you have FBI personnel employing unvetted information obtained from politically biased sources as primary evidence in a FISA request.

This has FELONY written all over it.

the FISA court, based on shabby evidence allowed an American citizen to be spied on (during a presidential election)

now why would the FISA court do that...
