The White House does not have to approve the release of a currently classified memo assembled within the House of representatives which purports to display extensive abuse of FISA authority within the FBI, deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley told WMAL Wednesday morning.
We dont have to approve it. They have the right to de-classify the document, Gidley told Daily Caller editorial director Vince Coglianese and WMAL host, citing legal minds consulted by the executive branch.

Exactly my question- did Sessions sign off on this statement? Because it’s just the sort of tactic I can imagine deep state using...undercut the authority of AG while seeming noble..above it all...
Spout all you want, FRiend...we all feel the same way. Try to catch Lou Dobbs repeat show tonight if you can.
Just pinged you to the Drudge Siren Thread...heading over now.
Damn, that’s GOOD! And provides me comfort:)
Whoever wrote that reply really grasps who has the authority, legally. But it must be profoundly unsettling to realize the FBI must be thoroughly investigated, for criminal and seditious actions and it’s your responsibility to do it.
posted last night that sessions would try to block this thru his DOJ. See post 14@ http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3625188/posts
Freepers were livid. Claiming Sessions can’t do this. Seems it didn’t take 25 hours. Sessions needs to go.
But ...he can’t block it. He can try. But he can’t stop Congress.
It’s a mess.
Two weeks from now...emergency press conference during Superbowl halftime
I believe what some wise folks have surmised - that this is all done in coordination. Folks who think that Nunes or the Republicans in Congress are too timid or lack wisdom should probably calm down. Its going according to plan.
Whose?
Well then, Jeff, if I were you I would defend the integrity of my agency by resigning if this memo is released. It is what any man of honor would do if he felt as strongly as you do about keeping the American people in the dark.
Ya nailed it. Well stated.
Did a brief search and found nothing. Could you please direct me to a source?
It could be like the Al Smith dinner all over again, only a lot more awkward with Capitol Police and/or Federal Marshals... even.
We'll know something is up if Maria Bartiromo takes VP Pence's place for the evening.
Here is one story.
In letter, DOJ tells Devin Nunes releasing memo would be “extraordinarily reckless”

Perhaps this is the story the other poster was referring to:

Ok, thank you.
Interesting perspective from you.
Personally, I don't really give a damn about "friendly" witnesses or hostile ones either for that matter. What it really all boils down to for me at the moment is the question of exactly who it is that owns our government. If it's we, the people, then we have a right to information to determine exactly how criminal our government has become. I really don't care about who is embarrassed by any of this. Let the chips fall all over the freaking place. Publish the lot of it, and we will make our own assessment. Screw these people who think they are our lords and masters. I mean really. Screw them all.
Why cant one of OUR guys get a similar cold..?
I realize yours was a rhetorical question but I would suggest one possible answer. When Sen. Feinstein made her release, her motivation was to undermine the investigation into wrongdoing. The motivation for the House memo is to bolster an investigation into that wrongdoing. When the case ultimately gets into court, there will be attempts to exclude evidence for any reason that can be thought of and an unauthorized release of evidence could be an issue. While the committee wants to get the information out, they want it to be done in a legal manner that will not jeopardize future court cases.
There has been a lot of that, coming from what I would consider to be somewhat unexpected quarters of late.
Excellent answer; I agree.
