Per the CDC, seasonal flu activity is now widespread in 49 states. Have any of the others asked Fedzilla for a handout? Just curious.

The state of emergency was when the folks of Alabama were about to vote for a Leftist rather than a good Conservative man for the U. S. Senate.

Too late now.

Well, I got my flu and pneumonia vaccines in November, but my more effective preventive is just to stay home. I realize most people can’t do that, but I’m sure glad I can.

I traveled to Pennsylvania from Florida, for Thanksgiving and deer season. That Sunday, started feeling like I was trying to catch a cold. Got up, Monday morning and headed to my deer hunting location. Lasted there for about an hour. Went and head breakfast and headed to another Amish farm. Well, about 12:30, all hell broke loose. I got the chills, body started aching, hip joints were on fire. I decided to call it quits. It’ a 3 mile hike to my truck. I didn’t think was going to able to make it. I did have a cell signal and was going to call “911”. I have never felt so bad. I made it to my truck, didn’t have enough strength to remove my hunting clothes. It took me a month to get over the mess. I guess this is part of getting old, nearing 73. I now have the utmost respect for the flu.

1. Nutrify your body.

2. Oxygenate your body.

3. Raise your pH > 7.4

4. Add 300 mcg selenium daily

5. Add foods and herbs and teas that kill viruses

6. Take plant-based Vitamin C of high % of bio availability (not the sh!thole vitamins in a drug store)

You will never have to worry about influenza again.

I feel lucky. Missed getting flu shots this year. But I’m a bit misanthropic by nature, so I’ve managed to avoid catching it so far. Central Texas “Cedar Fever” (tree pollen allergies) have it me like the always do at this time of year.

I got a bad cold in the first week of Dec and I STILL have it! At least the doctor told me it is a cold. It became walking pneumonia and now back to a cold. Or is it the flu? How can one really tell the difference? Or maybe I’m just old?

Anyway, if it is now the flu my best bet is to stay away from doctors and hospitals. Too many contagious sick people!

As I am still recovering from a 3.5 hospital/rehab stay over Summer 2017, I have been working from home. For this, I am eternally grateful. This flu scares the bejeezus out of me. I had the flu shot, but not convinced it will help much. A coworker went inpatient for a couple of days with pneumonia after Christmas, got out and picked up the flu. He went inpatient again before the new year with sepsis and multiple organ failure. He got out of ICU this past Friday. And he is one of the lucky ones.

If any FReeper begins to develop flu symptoms, do NOT put off going to the doctor. This stuff can put the healthiest person in the hospital...or even the morgue. Take care everyone.

My Mom had the 1918 flu. She recovered then caught the Asian flu on a trip to Hawaii, she lost her sense of smell for a couple of months. She refused to take the shots, she lived to be almost 103.

Walmart is having trouble keeping cold/flu shelves stocked.

I guess the "Maybe 10% effective rate of this year's concoction and the development of a newer strain have piled up to mess things up.

The wife had a shot and I passed. Both got some sort of bad cold (doesn't measure up to actual flu) and took the symptom relievers and some Zicam (both nasal swabs and tablets) to help get rid of the worst - still have edges hanging on after 2 weeks but am able to do light workout exercises..
