Consider the central puzzle to Trump's presidency: why did his own people give NeverTrumps a special counsel?
The most common explanation is that Trump is a bumbling fool. First, he colluded with Russia. Then he appointed Sessions, not knowing that Sessions would recuse himself. Finally, he appointed Rosenstein and was blindsided by the initiation of Mueller's probe.
The problem with this idea is that Trump has been a successful person for decades, building an empire in the cutthroat world of New York real estate. Maybe it's possible to argue that Trump isn't a Harvard bookworm, but there is an enormous gulf between not being the second coming of Henry David Thoreau and being what Trump's opponents say he is. His record simply does not countenance a serious conclusion in accord with his haters. At worst, he is merely competent, smart, and wily.
One of Trump's favorite quotes is "A leader has the right to be beaten, but never the right to be surprised." The idea that two independent Trump nominations to the most important parts of his administration immediately acted in tandem to undermine his presidency is not believable.
Some Trump-supporters have a different theory: that Mueller is actually on Trump's side, a "converted spy," as Imperator_Rex would write. Mueller is a Marine veteran who wants to support the American people but was forced into being Obama and Hillary's agent. Trump knows that Mueller will do what is right when given the chance. The investigation will boomerang back against Democrats.
Though this is a thought-provoking theory that accepts the premise that Trump is fundamentally a competent actor, it also fails. Mueller's character was definitively established when, as FBI director, he oversaw the Anthrax Letters investigation to find out who mailed anthrax, weeks after 9/11

Trump went to Penn so arguing hes not of Ivy caliber is D-U-M
Local representatives are notoriously deaf, dumb and blind to the will and interests of their constituents. How, precisely, are appeals to the better nature of pigs at the trough expected to have any effect?
I agree, it makes a lot more sense because the strategy is dynamic and borne from operational realities. In other words, there isn't a need to believe Trump had an ultimate strategy from the start and that the mistakes made were actually initial moves in a larger scheme, but rather it is apparent that Trump grabbed hold of the levers and began pulling us out of the dive using his experience and savvy. That is a lot more believable and accounts for the "bumbling" period of time to the eventual "mastery" of controls we seem to be seeing now.
Trump continues to operate within the enemies OODA Loop.
What he does overwhelmingly is restore the rule of law and the balance of power, undoing the overreach of Obama and prior presidents.

Yes, and I pray for him every day.
Well said.
Finally an article that comes close to describing, in fact, not fantasy, the Donald Trump my dad does business with.
I have to believe that there is much going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about yet.
There was so much corruption in the obama administration. PTrump could not just go wading in to the mess swinging elbows...cases have to be built against all the intertwined parties. It takes time to do it right, but it must be done right, because they will not go quietly.
It is just so hard to be patient where there is additional damning evidence that come out every day.
President Trump KNOWS he did not collude with Russians.
Pesident Trump impressed upon his family the importance of not colluding with the Russians.
Finally, President Trump prolly has his own personal copies of hard drives sourced by Dennis Montgomery (Sheriff Arpaio’s cold case posse) from the NSA. Trump may have all the proof he needs that “0bama tapped Trump Tower” and who (Mueller) was responsible for the corruption, criminal, and treasonous acts.
All I know is... I have seen Trump do this over and over...
force democrats to commit 110% to something ... (like the results of the election must be respected) and then turn it on them to his advantage.
Right now democrats are being forced to commit 110% to Mueller and the investigation... I can’t help but wonder if Trump will pull off the same trick. ie. force Democrats to DEMAND that the results of Mueller’s investigation be respected... only then to have Mueller come out and proclaim Trump 100% innocent and even worse.. that DEMOCRATS were the ones colluding with the Russians!
lol
Just watch.
“Not optimistic about Mueller....I think he is CORRUPT as the day is long!! he let the Clintons skip on a ton of things.”
Mueller may be corrupt, and he will be implicated in U1 no doubt which gives Sessions a lot of leverage. A marine like Mueller doesn’t want to be brought up on treason charges which is what the optics of U1 are. He also doesn’t want to sell out Comey.
I think it will be McCabe who will be taking the fall on this, with Ohr and Strozk going with them. The longshot here for a prison sentence in Brennan. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was the ring leader of the coup.
This is total BS.
Mueller is as compromised as they come and stuffed his team with rabid anti-Trumpers who had been colluding illegally against Trump since 2016 or earlier.
Roger Stone has a better bead on things: https://www.rawstory.com/2017/12/not-a-conspiracy-theory-roger-stone-says-he-has-proof-members-of-the-cabinet-are-plotting-to-remove-trump/
Yep, complete horsestuff.
This Author knows all about TRUMP, she wrote a book about all the KILLERS trying to buy the GM Building
The FBI has been corrupt since at least Ruby Ridge.
When you call with a strident tone, and follow up with a pointed, firm, but polite letter with the other .01% of fellow-voters that do so, then the representatives will hear and act on it.
Make sure your other friends of like mind also do so, and the impact will be felt, even when (as in Delaware) the legislators are way over the left-hand boundaries in their state and federal narratives that are inflicted on their constituents.
In this case, one also ought to complain to the leadership of his own party, and see that they get off their duff and stop promoting RINOs in the election strategy.
Repectfully, Louis . . .
TRUE! This is not a battle between two political parties; it is a battle between the Monarchy (Orwell's Inner and Outer parties) and the Mob and, as such, is existential for the Monarchy.
A rat, cornered, becomes the lion.
They've been corrupted, but trending beneficially, since J. Edgar Hoover took charge. Leaving the details of his manipulation of Presidents, Senators, and Justices up to you . . . who may not agree with my humble but honest opinion, I remain forthright but respectful.
