My thoughts on the election from a teen...
Try to do a little better job picking your GOP standard-bearer next time. Please, no more nutjobs like crazy Judge Roy that you guys put on the ticket and then don't even show up to vote for.
He may be your candidate but losing the seat to a Democrat screws all of us.
Thank you.
That’s a pretty decent tagline too.
You may or may not understand the difference between the candidate and agenda-related issues, but most of your next elder generation understands this as an agenda issue.
If teens think that the preponderance of “weight” (via pressure) can change our minds (at least mine), they need to rethink. Judgment is not a collective process.
If your friends support gays, they need to understand the difference between the conservative and liberal viewpoints. Conservatives believe that the LEGAL rights of gays are no less and no more than the LEGAL rights of non-gays.
Liberals believe that the LEGAL rights of gays should be greater than the LEGAL right of non-gays in order to address some past situation where the legal rights of gays were denied.
Republicans need to put together a plan for reacting to ambushes of the type employed against Roy Moore. But, keep in mind that the text book answer to an ambush is overwhelming force.
This take-down is courtesy of the conventional GOP elite. They are announcing themselves as the enemy of conservatives. The GOP is a political party. Consider whether you want to be associated with a political party (the GOP) or a political movement (conservative/populist supporters of Trump, et al).
I will not condemn you, but I will remind you to consider that your thoughts are hardly unique to your generation. Including the idea that the previous generation never thought of them.
It really was good. I have re-read it 5 times now. I have a hard time bridging that life experience with my kids but I also have a had time taking it from my parents. Yeah that is odd but the truth and I suspect normal.
I bookmarked it to re-read it for when both parents and kids piss me off.
Hey now, Brooks is my guy in the house. I can’t do everything. I really thought Moore (didn’t vote for him in primary) would support Trump and win. I still think Dick Shelby screwed us the most, McConnell a very close second, I’m still shocked.
Sorry, I need to apologize for the snarky reply. I read your post quickly and jumped on it for something that wasn't there.
Here's to hoping for a better outcome in 2020. Until then, I hope Jones represents all the voters in Alabama and can find a way to work with President Trump.
The lib (liberal and libertarian) motto to celebrate the supreme court's blessing of homo marriage was 'love wins'.
that boils down to the true essence of liberal and libertarian existence: the supremacy of emotions.
Notice they don't promote anything where they can say "reason wins" or "freedom wins".
No, instead they promote something so they can declare the very antagonist of "freedom wins" or "reason wins": they declare "love (emotion) wins".
As for your point that homoism is abuse, dominance, and humiliation, well, those are very liberal things, as we are finding out via pervey whitestain and kevin not-good-enough-for-heaven spacey.

Not just public schools, but private schools, nickelodean, mtv, disney, casting couches for young actors, etc.
Authoritarian Republicans—just like authoritarian Democrats—need to overcome their shortcut nanny-state impulses and accept the fact that not everyone who is fiscally conservative is necessarily socially conservative.
One cannot simultaneously be a nanny-stater and believe in minimal government. The concepts are almost mutually exclusive, for once nanny-state policies are implemented, there must necessarily be an ever-expanding regulatory and enforcement apparatus—and that apparatus will invariably start trampling on Constitutional Rights.
Thus, many traditional conservatives—by resorting to the same authoritarian nanny-state impulses that the Left indulges—alienate members of the younger generation, and they reinforce stereotypes regarding Republicans and intrusive government.
Any American who is aware enough to repudiate marxism and socialism should naturally gravitate towards the GOP, and the gratuitous antagonism that more doctrinaire Republicans display towards the libertarian crowd couldn't possibly be more counterproductive.
People who oppose socialism should band together based on the 80+ percent that they agree on, rather than try to antagonize one another about the other 20%.
Demographically, the GOP tent is shrinking, so it stands to reason that the appeal of the GOP—if it is to broaden—must do so based on things like ideological commonalities, with greater tolerance regarding differences.
With respect to Liberty—beyond issues of force, fraud, and negligence which infringe on individual rights—any additional authoritarianism is gratuitous, and should not be part of the GOP's core ideology. Why? Because such compromises—the embrace of arbitrary law—are precisely what creates the slippery slope which leads to a government with practically unlimited power to destroy.
I, for one, reject such Statism categorically, regardless of which side of the fake Left/Right political spectrum it emanates from. Make no mistake: in America, Freedom flows from an ideologically consistent understanding of Authority vs. Liberty, and cherry-picking shortcuts will always represent a threat—and whether the shortcuts come from the "Right" or the "Left" is totally irrelevant.
Barring bona fide infringement on another individual's rights, the "Pursuit of Happiness" is what the Individual decides—it should never depend on the whims of any other person or mob...
As Mark Steyn once declared: It’s impossible to be a fiscal conservative and a social liberal (in other words, libertarian), because the bleeding-heart nature of the social liberal will want to spend wastefully for their social causes, thus negating any pretense towards fiscal conservativism.
Sargon provided a great example of this on a pro-pothead thread a while ago. He/She/It declared that pot should be legalized and that society should take care of those who are destroyed by it.
It was a sickening display of compassionate conservatism.
It is like the chamber of commerce’s ploy to profit from all the cheap labor from foreigners, and then dump the social costs onto the taxpayers. Team Pothead wants to deploy the same tactic: profit from all the legal pot, then let the tax payers, health insurance consumers, and auto-insurance consumers pay for the social destruction.
Libertarians are destructive and dishonest.
Sargon is very heideggarian in promoting the emotional barbarism of the youth to destroy the wisdom and stabilty of successful prior generations
No worries. If jones wants to have any chance other than the uniparty gift he will have to walk a very small tight rope. He wont and he will fall.
Libertarians in the truest sense believe in rule of law- too many Millennials don’t. They don’t give a flying flock about freedom of speech, freedom of religion, private property or the constitution itself as economic Libertarians do. That’s all antiquated stuff to Millennials. Socialism’s where it’s at. They want direct democracy, mob rule, free stuff... because they are the mobs of the moment, and like herd animals anywhere, they don’t know where they are headed, only that they are going along and feel good about it because they are not alone....which is how butchers like their herd animals right up until the moment the livestock are milked or leave the feed lot and enter the chute to become meat and leather.
Hey, at least the food and health care is free.
So stop talking about veal, it turns off the heifers.
Except for the communist Cubans [of which there are some here in Fl living amongst the others] ... Cubans have no desire to turn the US into Cuba and rename it Aztlan or whatever LaRaza want to call it.
Many would very much like to go back to Cuba if it were like the US.
Then again, maybe Mexicans would like to return to Mexico if it were like the United States.
Instead, the US is getting as corrupt as Mexico.
Anyway... stay brave enough to voice your opinions, especially if you take a lot of flak for them. It’s when you aren’t taking flak that you should be worried.
“Looks like wyowolf just rode the lightning...”
YES!! It’s about time!
Thank you mods!
Au contraire. Dunno how old you are, but I'm a Gen Xer and that stuff was already out in the 70s when I was a kid. Met a cross dresser at my cousin's house. Homosexuality was on TV (remember SOAP?). There was rampant divorce, abortion, Phil Donahue, clergy and teacher molestation. Sexual license was all over the place in the 70s when I was a kid, and I watched people's lives get ruined because of it.
And today's youth ought to rid themselves post-haste of that asinine "we're smarter than previous generations so you need to appeal to us" mentality that first took hold among the Boomers. You're not smarter. You haven't seen enough in your short lives to really understand what is going on in society...how the "live and let live" mentality actually plays out over a lifetime. Your "gay" friends are still young and fabulous and living it up in their prime, and they haven't yet been vomited out of the club scene and degenerated into sad, lonely old men preying on the young and vulnerable.
Whether young people understand this or not, they need to hear it. The so-called "Sexual Revolution" was a big mistake from start to finish, and I will go to my grave the avowed enemy of any philosophy which allows for or excuses sexual "experimentation" of any sort outside of marriage.
Perhaps you can ask me to make the case in a better way to young people, but no way am I going to deny what I know for a fact just to remain "relevant." If conservatism is going in an "accept homosexuality as normal and natural" route, then conservatism has become a tool of the devil, and you can leave me out of it.
I also don’t care where you stick your wang. I honestly think the gay chromosome is on the Y. Some minuscule % of men are just gay. (Mostly Theater Majors) The rest of gayness is by choice/mental illness #. Transgenderism is a mental disease. It is why such a massive % of them commit suicide.
Guns? check
Small Gov? check but let me add I don’t want them in my garage*, bathroom** or laundry room*** either. I don’t want them at my business telling me to bake a gay cake. The Government that governs least governs best.
# Explain why gay suicide is so high... not as high as trans though.
* It is my friggen car.
** So I have to flush twice? Idiots
*** So I have to run the damned HE washer twice to actually clean stuff? Idiots
Which is more authoritarian?
A) Allowing the State to define marriage as it sees fit.
B) Saying that marriage pre-exists the State and that no state therefore has the power to abolish or fundamentally change it.
The best argument against so-called "gay marriage" is precisely because it gives the state power over a natural institution that the state never had.
But he doesn’t reply to comments. I doubt the person is a teen pr a conservative.
If so he should research and learn that homosexually is a mental disorder.
Sorry i see he does reply
