Schumer goes to police about bogus sexual harassment complaint

Sen. Charles Schumer said Tuesday he’s gone to the Capitol Police about a bogus sexual-harassment complaint that has been circulated to the media in an apparent attempt to smear him.

Several news organizations have been sent papers purporting to be a federal lawsuit — using the name of a real former Schumer staffer — accusing him of lurid behavior.

But the former Schumer employee named in the “suit” told The Post she has not filed any such complaint. Schumer and the woman have both gone to police.

It has gone beyond that, I’m afraid.

I retired a year ago, but I am still in contact with several people who are still working. A lot of the men I’ve spoken with recently said that many of the men in positions of authority, and many who are not, are walking on eggshells, wondering if they had told a risqué joke at an office party ten years ago, or had accidentally bumped into a woman when the elevator lurched. They are dead serious. They said they have never seen an atmosphere like this before. Some of them are considering taking an early retirement because the stress of not only losing their jobs, but having their careers and reputations ruined is getting to be too much.

I think false charges like this against Democrats will defuse the whole situation by the time they get around to Trump.

Everybody will just, correctly, assume the charges against Trump are false.

Before closing the book on this one, it would be a good idea to verify Schumer’s claims. For example, the woman claims her signature was forged. Does she deny ever consulting a lawyer to draw up the complaint or in regard to the allegations? Did somebody sign it for her? She reportedly says that basic facts in the complaint are wrong. Could it be some kind of draft? I mean, a draft document usually has errors about basic facts. I am not assuming that there is any truth to this at all and I am not disputing the Senator’s contention that it is false and a forgery. But I think that rather than take the word of Schumer and the anonymous non-victim for it, the matter should be looked into.

I've heard of lawyers preparing lawsuit papers which are never filed because they were instead used to scare the potential defendant into a big settlement check.

Remembering that Schumer was Weiner's mentor from the very beginning - this should be considered a definite possibility. A possible explanation that the MSM will do it's utmost to bury rather than pursue.
