Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

It’s mind boggling how any decent person wouldn’t be horrified by that.
They are saying Blacks are turning out.
Crap. Not looking good, at least if we believe Fox News and the NYT.
Votes | Rounded % |

Moore | Rep | 350,192 | 53 |
Jones | Dem | 303,232 | 46 |
62% reporting (1,372 of 2,220 precincts)
I am watching the ABC live stream and they have a table of Alabama residents, I assume, and have some hipster Indian(?) fella who sounds straight out of Santa Monica and has the Faggy Jon Snow hair bun talking about how Roy Moore will vote for the tax bill that will only help millionaires.
You keep saying that, what is the objective basis for your optimism?
Looks like NYT’s Blue region expectations aren’t being met. Except for one bump, it’s been declining over the last half hour. Low Dem turnout in these areas?
And there are no recent allegations against Moore. That speaks volumes. A true predator or pedophile doesn’t just stop.
Using logic and reason in election threads is kind of frowned upon
Nope. I hate them more than democrats. Ive been saying (on FR) since 2004 that Id rather be stabbed in the chest than in the back.
COUNTED SO FAR: 62% ROY MOORE 350,192 52.8% DOUG JONES 304,757 45.7%
If you believe Fox News, Jones was supposed to win by 10%. That’s way off.

Another ABC analyst: Moore has every reason to be confident.
Moore +42,000 (7%) with 58% in
HUGE rural swaths yet to come in
They said 90% chance of Jones winning about 10 mins ago, and last I looked he’s down around 65% and slipping. The Slimes are up to their usual tricks.
37,000 votes is nothing compared to what they hare holding back in the big blue cities. THis is going to be very close and that always means the GOP loses, the dems are so skilled at cheating
I’m not saying I believe it, but it has been pretty accurate since 2016. I know that CNN is about 5 minutes behind, but they are making it sound like odds are Moore is winning.
Tax bill hurts millionaires
