Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

Doug Jones giving his victory speech now. Sounds like Bill Clinton back in the day. Barf!
Amazing!
No but a candidate should act like he is actually interested in winning, not attending an out of state football game during the last weekend before the election. So please, NO MORE MOORE!!!
He said he didn’t campaign because people already know him. He disappeared a lot. The press kept writing stories asking where he was. Contrast that with Trump.
If we get a tax bill, we may see some signs of life on other things. I’m down too, but hang in there.
We didn’t expect to ever have a president like Trump again. Here we are with him.
Hang in there.
If the Seed of those who Crucified the Messiah, see they are losing control from the Majority, they will even pull a “Lieberman” to run as an independent. The seed is still here and scattered after 2000 years.
The next Advent is close.
The difference between Moore winning and losing were the allegations.
Not proven allegations. Just allegations.
Nope. The difference between Moore winning and losing was his own party not abandoning him but even going so far as to campaign FOR Moore. How pathetic is that?
Agreed!
No, I dont honestly believe Alabama has gone full-blown progressive. But with all the leftists moving from Blue States to Red States in the past few years..... who knows???
>><<
The Progressives almost always move into the big cities. The Alabama election results tonight show that.
I think this really shows that conservatives are not dying..it it’s that we are tired and not motivated to vote for the lesser of two evils..Jones is a typical liberal reprobate and his base will vote in kind ,Moore came across as uncle creepy Joe Biden lite..he did a crappy job of refuting allegations. He made many conservatives I know uncomfortable.Alabamians likely felt the same and could not back him with a clear conscience even with Jones’s abortion stance. We need better candidates of we intend to maintain this Republic
IT MEANS HE’S UP FOR RE-ELECTION IN THREE YEARS. WHICH HOPEFULLY HE WILL NOT WIN AGAINST A BETTER CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE.
Because unlike the bullshitters in the media are trying to tell you, Alabama is not more progressive. They voted for Trump by 26% just 12 months ago.
Under 3k gap with 2 counties now.
Which Republican runs against Shelby in 2022?
Well... OAN called the race for Moore at around 8:01 pm ET....
Also, the dems wont be able to give the same amount of money to each of their senate candidates in 2018 as they have given to jones during this election.
I wouldn’t bet on that. They are fired up, have won a couple races and have many billionaires to tap to fund 2018. I expect they will have unlimited funds now.
I already stated on this thread I blame Sessions for this, first and foremost, fornaccepting the job of AG because it was his “dream job” even though he knew he was likely going to recuse himself from the biggest issues facing the administration.
Secondly, I blame Senstor Shelby from Alabama, who along with Sessions said he wasn’t voting for Moore, and suggested voters write in other candidates, which they did in enough numbers to throw the election to Jones.
Hindsight is 20/20.
I assume they originally were comfortable that Alabama would continue to elect republicans.
Thank you for sharing that great quote from Thomas Jefferson.
And there are millions of god-less americans out there as well supporting evil, whether they understand it or have allowed themselves to be deceived.
Prayers for the conversion of these people is something that is much needed. The devil is still strong in these people and has caused this stumble but there is no doubt, ultimately God is still in control. I feel bad for our Freepers from Alabama but Alabama will get the political leader they deserve. Hopefully this deception can be fixed in the next election.
